[name]Calista[/name] or [name]Calixta[/name]- which do you prefer and why?
Definitely [name]Calista[/name] and it is a beautiful name.
rollo
[name]Calista[/name] - more familiar and easy to say. It is what people will hear whichever name you go to. I understand liking [name]Calixta[/name] - x’s are cool - but I think [name]Calista[/name] will be more wearable.
[name]Calixte[/name] is one of my favorite names so I say [name]Calixta[/name] out of the two
I like both…but I guess [name]Calista[/name] is more familiar
[name]Don[/name]'t you think that [name]CaliXta[/name] sounds like medicine?
I like both, but I am leaning towards Calixta right now because it sounds and looks more interesting to me. I’m a fan of edgier names (but not too far over the edge). I think Calixta sounds exotic and beautiful.
Calista is also very lovely, but maybe too associated with Calista Flockhart? I agree that it’s more easily pronouncable and familiar though.
Also, what do you guys think of the nickname Lixy (instead of Callie which I’m not that into) for Calixta? I’m just brainstorming. Be honest.
I like [name]Calista[/name] better. It has a softer sound and a more accessible appeal… the only reason [name]Calixta[/name] would appeal to me more is that I met a not-so-savory [name]Calista[/name] this summer, and she totally ruined the name for me. Still, I think it’s a fabulous choice, and if you’re looking for a nn, I think [name]Callie[/name] is adorable! Since you’re not that into it, though, I think Lissy could be cute for it.
As for Lixy for [name]Calixta[/name]–I can’t get past “licks”. It sounds a bit weird to me, but I think you could easily change it to [name]Lexi[/name], which has a sweet (albeit trendy) vibe to me.
Good luck!
[name]Calla[/name] and [name]Callie[/name] are pretty nn’s
I think the nn Lixy has a lot of bad teasing potential, I have no problem with the “licks” sound (especially since I favor [name]Calixte[/name]) but a nn that is almost all “licks” sounding seems like a recipe for teasing if you are in an english speaking country.
[name]Calista[/name] is a gorgeous name. [name]Calixta[/name] sounds like science fiction – and yes, like medicine. I also agree about the ‘licks’ sound.
I don’t think [name]Calista[/name] is too [name]Calista[/name] Flockhart. 10 years ago maybe, but not so now. And I think as a potential little [name]Calista[/name] grows up, Ms. Flockhart will be further far removed from the name.
I don’t like Lixy very much for reasons cited above, but [name]Calix[/name] or [name]Alix[/name] would be cool for a [name]Calixta[/name]. All best!
I like [name]Calista[/name] a lot better, it sounds far more usable and much softer (but still not ordinary). [name]Calla[/name] is a lovely nn, as mentioned by [name]Rollo[/name].
[name]Calista[/name]! The X in [name]Calixta[/name] makes it loose a lot of femininity to me
I definitely prefer [name]Calista[/name]! I think its a beautiful name, and didn’t make me think of [name]Calista[/name] Flockheart at all until you mentioned it
The nickname [name]Calla[/name] is really cute. I also like [name]Callie[/name] and Lissy. Maybe [name]Lizzy[/name] could also work?? And I heard someone used the name [name]Cayli[/name] for it too. NMS, but it could work…
This. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Calista[/name] isn’t common, thanks to [name]Calista[/name] Flockhart, most people are aware of how to pronounce and spell it. [name]Calixta[/name] on the other hand, just seems like it would be a nightmare spelling and pronunciation wise.
