Call me crazy but I love Clotilda

I don’t understand why this name is not more popular. She could be both [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name].

I think it’s pretty. She could also be [name]Lottie[/name], a bit of a stretch but still. I like [name]Clotilde[/name] as a mn but [name]Clotilda[/name] could work as a fn.

Call me crazy but I also love that name but I like even more [name]Clothilde[/name]!and I wouldn’t use any nn.

I agree. But I understand someone might find it clunky. It isn’t on my list, but I find it charming.

I’m not a fan. I prefer [name]Matilda[/name] and I don’t like that it has the word Clot in it.

I also prefer [name]Matilda[/name], but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clothilde[/name]. I knew a girl with this name once. She was from a rural Southern town and no one had trouble pronouncing it. I always thought it was so lovely!

I agree with clocktower. I also like [name]Clothilde[/name].

Hmm, I have loved [name]Clothilda[/name] for ages and I am kind of normal woman… That seems strange because I can’t stand [name]Matilda[/name]. The opportunity to have [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name] in one makes me love the name even more.

I think it’s great!

I think it’s too out there for me, but hey-whatever floats your boat! [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Isolde[/name] come to mind when I think of this name…

I agree that it seems like it should be more popular! I can see how it would be too clunky though, it’s kind of like [name]Cordelia[/name]. Like it’s a lot to carry. But that doesn’t stop me from liking it!

[name]Clotilde[/name] is on my mn list

I like [name]Clothilde[/name] (w/o the a) because it feels very chic, like a sophisticated French flapper girl with bobbed hair. Very pretty, yet strong and independent.

[name]How[/name] do you prn it?

Or [name]Lottie[/name]! Seriously, it’s so cool. It’s softer than [name]Matilda[/name], which I love. I don’t really care for [name]Matilda[/name] at all. It’s like a smoosh of the best parts of [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name]. I like it, but I agree with Whillemina–it’s just too out-there for me to use. I’m not a very brave namer, and I just can’t see [name]Clotilda[/name] on a person, and I don’t have the guts to use it. I would like to meet a little [name]Clotilda[/name], though, especially if she went by [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Lottie[/name]!

love it but would never shorten it.

Please do not bump really old threads. Mods please fix this!

[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced?

Adorable name. There’s a character in a classical [name_m]German[/name_m] book I’m reading named [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] and it’s very nerdy-cute.

It is a beautiful name but I am not surprised it’s not more popular just because although it may have many cute nicknames some parents could get not nice images from it like blood clots or such… It’s too bad since it is such a beautiful name with a great array of nicknames!
