[name_f]Do[/name_f] you see [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] as a boy or girl name?
Boys name. It could work for a girl, but I much prefer it for a boy. One of my favourite book characters is [name_m]Pere[/name_m] [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] from the Dark [name_m]Tower[/name_m] series (he also appears in [name_u]Salem[/name_u]'s Lot), so I feel quite warmly towards this name.
I see it as a surname.
This is exactly what I was going to say.
Boy. I do know a girl with the name, however, and she prefers to go by [name_f]Callie[/name_f] because she hates that her name is so masculine!
I see [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] as a boys name, a handsome boys name. [name_u]Cal[/name_u] would be a nice nickname.
I like it as either.
I know a girl named [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] but she just goes by [name_f]Callie[/name_f].
Boys name…
I think it could work either way. But I will say that if one used [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] for a girl I would choose a very feminine middle name, like grace or something. I personally like [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], but whatever works for you.
If I saw it on paper, I’d definitely think ‘boy’ first, but in this generation of unisex names, I would check first before I assumed. [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is a cute nn.
I think it is a handsome boys’ name.
I see it as a surname. If you must use it as a first name, then it strikes me as a boy’s name.
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
I love the name [name_m]Callahan[/name_m], but I like it as a middle name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I don’t have any kids, [name_m]Houston[/name_m] [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] has been my top boy name for a long, long time…
[name_f]My[/name_f] gut instinct says boy, although it could work as a unisex name and belong to a girl nicknamed [name_f]Callie[/name_f]. If I say this name on a class roster, I’d assume it’s a little boy.
Boys name, definitely, [name_m]WAY[/name_m] too masculine for a girl! [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it can shorten to [name_f]Callie[/name_f], doesn’t mean it works on a girl sigh! I wouldn’t use it because of bad associations, but I think it’s cute, if a little upper-class, on a BOY - [name_u]Cal[/name_u] is an awesome nickname!
Boy’s. I think most surnames sound masculine & go to the boys
