Hey Berries! I was wondering how many people here have big families. What are their names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] the kids names connect or have a theme? How hard is it to choose a bunch of names that don’t sound too similar? [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe you wanted them to sound similar? Tell me!

P.S My dad has a big family of nine siblings aged 19-47
My dad, [name_m]John[/name_m], had ten siblings. They almost all had biblical or [name_m]Saint[/name_m] names, pretty much, and I’d say they went together well for that reason.
I wouldn’t say I have a huge family, I have my parents and two younger sisters. None of my sisters really have a theme, but we all have pretty uncommon names, my middle sister has an extremely uncommon name, my baby sister has a name that is a international variant of a name that’s more popular spelled differently, but it’s still pretty uncommon, I have a name that’s extremely uncommon for my age but getting slightly more popular for younger kids though it’s still decently uncommon and it’s dropping in popularity. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents didn’t care how out names sounded together, they just wanted them to be easy to pronounce and spell.
I have A TON of relatives though, like if we’re counting all tiers of cousins I probably have 100+ and that’s just cousins. Unfortunately I barely know half of em. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma said that her aunt had 18 kids, and I know my great-great grandma (on the other side) had either 12 or 14 so I have a lot a relatives I don’t know
My grandma was one of 11 and her mother was one of 13. Within the sibsets themselves, the names were individual. Between the mother’s siblings and her children, there was quite a bit of crossover.
I’m one of 6, and my siblings are [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], C0nnor, Dev0n, me ([name_f]Brynn[/name_f]), [name_u]James[/name_u], and Trev0r. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents just liked all the names, there is no real meaning behind them
[name_f]My[/name_f] dad has 4 younger brothers. There isn’t really any meaning behind their names, but middles are all honors. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom is the youngest of 12, and all of her siblings have traditional Khmer names (besides her, because she legally changed it).
my mum is one of seven, and their names have very little in common at all.
middle-aged french woman name + basic midcentury boy name + then unheard-of, now ridiculously-popular irish name + simple midcentury girl name + spunky yet classic nickname + extremely unusual celtic name + simple name that was never popular yet still somehow feels dated ??
My mom is one of 9 and my dad is one of 6! [name_f]My[/name_f] dad’s siblings names are kind of all over the place and some are very unique, so I won’t share them. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom’s siblings are a little more similar in style (a mix of classics/family names and popular names for the time): H.eather, K.iersten, J.ennifer. R.achel, D.arcy, H.eidi, N.atalie, R.ichard & J.onathan
Naturally, I have a very large extended family (100+), with my own family of 4 children being the second smallest amongst the first cousins. No one has beat 9, but there is a family with 8 kids: N.athaniel, L.eah, A.lyssa, E.mma, J.acob, S.amuel, A.bigail & T.homas
I personally don’t really like when families (especially big ones) get caught up in a theme. It seems like large families feel most cohesive when they stick to tried-and-true classics.
I’m one of 7 children in my family. No theme to our names, and they’re all very different. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents have very eclectic taste. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother was one of 10 children, and they were all very different too.
My mom has about nine or ten half siblings from both her bio mom and bio dad(all kids are from different marriages). And I don’t think there was any theme with their names.
I don’t have a big extended family at all (I literally have 0 first cousins) but I am one of 5. We range from early teens to mid 20s and are N@talie (unique Thai middle name), [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] (me), [name_m]Edw[/name_m]@rd Al3x@nder nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m], and two Ol1v3r J@cobs (one is my step brother technically hence the weird coincidence of them having the exact same name lol). They tend to go by Oli and [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] so we can tell the différence when discussing them
My mother has two sisters and a brother. They don’t have a theme but I could say that they are actually all [name_u]French[/name_u] names (common 60’s-70’s American names but very common such as [name_u]Michele[/name_u]). Her mother however was one of ten. No particular theme for the first five children with the respective first marriages and then all Italian names for the last 5.
My father is one of six and there’s no real theme with the names. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents had 4 of us between them with no particular theme. I guess the theme with all of my cousins in my father’s side is that we all have very Irish names including some rare ones like [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and Brennis. One of my brothers is a [name_m]Jr[/name_m] and another is named after my father’s brother who was murdered.
My husband and I have six kids between us. His first two were Irish names but no theme intended. Together we have [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], Lilija [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] (middle names are hubby’s father’s name, they share a birthday). For the girls we picked 4-letter nature based names for the middles and honored heritages with the first. There’s tons more background about why we picked each one but we literally had a list of reasons of why we picked each.
I am one of six girls and our first names all end in the ee sound. Two of us have hyphenated names. Our names range from common middles, well known for certain time periods (like my name, [name_u]Shelley[/name_u]) and very unusual indeed.
My dad is one of 8 siblings - all of their names are trendy traditionals from the 50s/60s, like [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]. No real theme but they all fit together well!
Today that would probably look like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
My dad is one of 8 siblings and my mom is one of 12. I have about 50+ first cousins and around 20 2nd cousins or 1st cousins once removed whatever the term is. Some of my cousins have very biblical themed children names (J0hn-P@ul Jospeh comes to mind) and some all start with the same letter for my cousins but otherwise thats about it. If anyone was interested I could list all of my cousins as well
Same with the number of cousins. I come from a town of 1 sq mi and we’re all related. I have about 50 first cousins and without a doubt hundreds of second and third cousins that we all grew up just being “cousins” together.
