Calling all German berries - help!

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]/[name_m]Bennet[/name_m] is one of my top girls names. I love both spellings ([name_m]Bennett[/name_m] for the character in Dollhouse, and [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] for the family in Pride & Prejudice).

However, I’ve seen that the [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] spelling in is the top 100 for boys in Germany. Is it pronounced the same in Germany as it is in English? Or is the T silent?

If there’s a popular pronunciation other than [name_m]Ben[/name_m]-it somewhere in the world for [name_m]Bennet[/name_m], then that might tip the scales towards the [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] spelling.

Thanks

I’m Swedish but pretty sure that it’s pronounced the same as in english

I’m not [name_m]German[/name_m], but I lived there for a long time/speak [name_m]German[/name_m] fluently. [name_m]German[/name_m] doesn’t do silent syllables, you pronounce everything! While I don’t know a [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]/[name_m]Bennet[/name_m] in the [name_m]German[/name_m]-speaking world, I would very confidently (like 99.99%) bet on it being pronounced exactly like it is in English.

Thanks both, much appreciated!
