Hey, I know the grammar in my title is wrong, but it looked weird as “Lilys, Lauras, and Annas.”
Anyway, if your name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], or [name_f]Anna[/name_f], could you please let me know your thoughts on your name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you love your name? Did you ever yearn for something more _______?
Thanks!

My granny’s first name was Läürä and she hated it. So much so that she went by her middle name throughout her life. I, on the other hand, absolutely loved her name and would love to see it used.

Haha, good to know! I don’t understand why anyone hates [name_f]Laura[/name_f], but I’m an outsider looking in, so maybe it’s way different living with the name. Thanks!!
I love neutral, classless names that can fit anyone and [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is one of them (to me).

I do really like my name. I would never change it. I get compliments on my name pretty often too so I’ve never felt as if it were plain. And despite the popularity, I’ve met almost no other [name_f]Lily[/name_f]’s (one [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] in high school whose sister calls her [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a nickname, one [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] I volunteered with who usually went by [name_f]Lily[/name_f], and that’s it). Upon learning my name, people seem to like the nature connection, too. That’s why my mom picked it. So, of course, I have no interest in gardening despite her best efforts, but I do feel like my name really suits me.

I lol’d at your opening line!
Lily’s not too girly, right? Like you don’t feel pressured to fit a feminine mold? Is it exhausting to tell people “[name_f]My[/name_f] name’s just [name_f]Lily[/name_f], not [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].”
And ahh, you make me feel so confident about the name [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I read comments on Mumsnet and sometimes they seem to find any name that ends in “y/ie” childish or whatever, so it discourages me. But you’re right, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is such a gorgeously understated name!

I don’t think it’s too girly! I’ve always felt that it’s spunky. I think if it was something longer and with an -a or -ia ending I might have felt that. Like if I was a [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f]. Because I’m really not particularly feminine. Sometimes I like to bevery feminine, in the way that I also love wearing costumes when I do plays. All clothes feel like costumes to me. I was a very rough and tumble tom boy as a child. I loved karate and my brother’s hand-me-downs. I didn’t get to pick my own clothes until middle school at THAT was a lot more pressure than my name, because my mom would put me in pink leggings and bows and all that even though I told her I didn’t like it. Now I enjoy girly clothes more, but I also love doing drag
I absolutely understand and appreciate why you like the style of names you do. As much as I love [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], I do fear it could put too much pressure on my daughter to be feminine, so it’s a gamble. Shorter names tend to have less of that feel for me.
I haven’t been asked if it’s short for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] in a while, but whenever I have been I normally just say that my mom named me after the flower, so it’s just [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. It was never annoying.
