We are adopting a little girl named [name]Sena[/name], and plan on pronouncing it like [name]Sen[/name]-na the plant. I would love to give her a longer vintage middle that has meaning. Before we knew her name we had been thinking about [name]Anna[/name] ([name]Ah[/name]-na) as my gm and ggm were both named this, and it’s my sisters middle. BUT-- [name]Sena[/name] [name]Anna[/name] it’s exactly the flow I was thinking of.
I love vintage, nature ( this might already be covered?), and names that start with an A. In this case I don’t think it should end with an A. I do not like trendy names and won’t use overused names ( [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] etc.)
[name]Magnolia[/name] is out as [name]Sena[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] is too nature-y even for me. [name]Sena[/name] [name]Alice[/name] doesn’t seem to flow well either. My husband votes [name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name].
Other thoughts I had were:
[name]Coralie[/name] ( husband indifferent)
[name]Anabel[/name] ( husband is OK with and could honor [name]Anna[/name])
[name]Vivienne[/name] ( husband hates this one)
[name]Aveline[/name] ( pronounced leen at the end)
Blythe
I love the name [name]Sena[/name]. It’s different, yet not unheard of. I agree that, while [name]Anna[/name] is meaningful to you, it really don’t flow well with [name]Sena[/name]. [name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] sounds wonderful on the other hand, and it’s vintage.
[name]Rose[/name] names are nature-y, and can be vintage as well like [name]Sena[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Sena[/name] rosalind, [name]Sena[/name] [name]Rosamund[/name], and [name]Sena[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name].
I really like [name]Sena[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] and [name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name].
Sena Ivy
Sena Jessamine
Sena Lavender
Sena Margaret
Sena Irene
Sena Mabel
Sena Ingrid
Sena Marjorie
Sena Maisey
Sena Giselle
What about [name]Sena[/name] Avonlea? If you like [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables at all then it’s a fun literature name and it’s beautiful too.
You also seem to like short and sweet and slightly natural middle names so what about [name]Lake[/name]?
I love the suggestions of [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Augustine[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] ( too much [name]Leo[/name] in a sibset?) and [name]Lavender[/name] ( too much plant?). I will share them with my husband.
Sparrowfinch I had thought [name]Avalon[/name] before, Avonlea is cute and I do love [name]Anne[/name] of green gables
I’m kind of floored that people would rate this thread “terrible”. Wow.
Thank you for your help to the people that have posted ideas-- but to the rest of you, you might want to reevaluate your values. Adopting a child and keeping her given name is “terrible”? Or asking for help on name ideas ( just like any other person on here) is “terrible”? [name]Shame[/name] on you, and thanks for making me feel bad.
I like the suggestion of [name]Sena[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name]. [name]Sena[/name] [name]Julianne[/name] is also an option. Also:
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Alexandria[/name] (though it ends with an “a”, I think it’s okay)
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Aislinn[/name] (or [name]Ashlyn[/name] if you prefer that spelling)
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] Adrielle
P.S. You have nothing to feel bad about. Nothing at all. I actually think it’s quite sweet and considerate of you not to change your daughter’s name.
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] doesn’t do it for me, but I don’t think it would be a bad choice at all.
[name]Coralie[/name] - Very pretty! I had this as a first name option for a really long time and I still love it. [name]Sena[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] flows well.
[name]Anabel[/name] - Like the name, but not with [name]Sena[/name].
[name]Vivienne[/name] - Not my style at all. It reminds me of a street I live next to, so I’m probably not the best person to be talking.
[name]Blythe[/name] - [name]Sena[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] sounds thre best, [name]IMO[/name]. I like it a lot.
[name]Edit[/name]: I agree with [name]Gabriela[/name]. You have NOTHING to feel bad about.
Thanks ladies. My husband does not like [name]Blythe[/name] it seems. So, my top choices are:
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Annalise[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] ([name]Blythe[/name] if he’d go for it)
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] ( French pn)
I’m just not loving any of them though and trying to be positive about the whole name.
I know [name]Roseanne[/name] leaves a weird taste in people mouth after the show but I think it’s a great mix between [name]Anna[/name] and a nature name. I think Especially when you’re adopting giving that child a family related name can be particularly meaningful, not just for her but the whole family. It’s a clear sign that she is one of the group, instead of a tag-along addition.
Frm your current list I’d vote for [name]Sena[/name] [name]Annelise[/name].
I apologize if the iPad auto-corrected anything oddly.
[name]Sena[/name] is lovely. Combos that come to mind are:
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] (as long as you are ok with alliteration, of course)
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Alouette[/name]
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Marcheline[/name]
From your short list I like [name]Sena[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] best but prefer the [name]Juliette[/name] spelling in this instance.
[name]True[/name] Lexium. Which makes [name]Annalise[/name] or Anneleise the apparent choice with my 3 [name]Anna[/name]'s and my husbands mom being [name]Elizabeth[/name] in the middle ( [name]Lise[/name]/[name]Liese[/name]).
It’s just hard letting go of my names, and a close friend just named her new daughter [name]Analee[/name]. In our case though I don’t see how she could have issue with [name]Annalise[/name] for all the family connections it has for us.
[name]Sena[/name] [name]Lavender[/name] was my first thought! [name]Sena[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] is very pretty, as is [name]Sena[/name] [name]Annalise[/name]. My suggestions would be:
