Camael?

My husband suggested the name Camael. Camael is one of the Archangels, who expelled [name]Adam[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] from the Garden of [name]Eden[/name] and is known as the angle of divine love, among other things. What do you think? To much? We are not very religious (identify as Catholic but we are not exactly practicing and apparently, the Catholic Church no longer recognizes Camael). We really like the nickname [name]Cam[/name]. We don’t like [name]Camden[/name] and we don’t like the meaning of [name]Cameron[/name]. If you don’t like Camael, any other “[name]Cam[/name]” names? Thanks.

It’s extremely religious and you’re not, plus it looks almost exactly like Camel, which will be brutal on the playground. I’m sure there are other names and nicknames you like.

If you’re looking for [name]Cam[/name]- names, and aren’t too picky about sources… there’s a character in a series of fantasy novels that i love named Camber. I always thought that was a really cool. Apparently, it’s also an actual word/name - Camber - Wikipedia.

There’s also [name]Camille[/name]/[name]Camilo[/name]/Camillus, or [name]Cam[/name] by itself is a [name]Romany[/name] name.

I wouldn’t use it, like stated earlier it looks too similar to the word Camel.

All fair points. We were contemplating adding to the short list but now won’t. No big loss. Thanks for the honest feedback.

Yep, all I hear is Camel

I first thought it was a misspelling of caramel so a no from me.

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Caedmon[/name]? Interesting history behind that name, and it’s got the hard C and the AE.

[name]Caedmon[/name] is an interesting alternative and I like the history. Think he could go by [name]Cam[/name]? I certainly wouldn’t want “Cad” as a nickname. It was mostly the [name]Cam[/name] we were going after and not the AE but this was definitely an intersting suggestion. Thanks.

In my opinion, it is way too close to camel. To give you some perspective, my name is [name]Camille[/name] and pretty much everyone I know has dubbed me with the nickname Camel at one time or another. So I feel like a little Camael would be even worse off.

Definitely sounds like camel, sorry

Some other options:
Camber
[name]Campbell[/name]
[name]Cameo[/name]
Camaxtli
Camillo/[name]Camilo[/name]
Camas
Camasa
[name]Camara[/name]
Camero
Camerson

Well since it’s pronounced “[name]CADE[/name]-min,” I don’t think people would associate it with the word “cad.” I do think [name]Cam[/name] is quite doable from [name]Caedmon[/name], since the letters are there within the name.
I think Cambrian “[name]CAM[/name]-bree-in” as in the Paleozoic age, would make a pretty amazing name, but I don’t know if that’s too out-there. Makes me think of trilobite fossils and ancient history layered into rocks, simple elements of life from which we evolved. It’s basically [name]Cam[/name] + [name]Brian[/name] (well, [name]Bree[/name]-in)

Camphor is a tree that has medicinal and culinary uses

What about [name]Campbell[/name]?
