We need a name that works in both [name_m]French[/name_m] and English, is unique, a bit quirky and different to go with Floralie and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] (oo-LEES), the older siblings’ names. These are the two top contenders.
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you picture a [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia (Ca-MEH-liah) or a Clémentine ([name_u]Clem[/name_u]-uhn-teen) to be like?
[b]Emphasis on this part please:
At first encountering one or the other name, what would you expect the child/parents to be like?[/b]
*(The children speak English at home and with family in general, and [name_m]French[/name_m] in school and outside.)
Clémentine is my favourite! When I hear Clémentine, I think spunky, smart, interesting and beautiful. [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia is more ethereal and soft to me, perhaps a bit dreamy, not quite as edgy as Clémentine. They are both beautiful names, Clémentine is just more my kind of name.
I wouldn’t have vastly different expectations of what the child/parents would be like, though. Cultured, intelligent and interesting would probably be my initial impression based on both names.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] in English, but not so much in [name_m]French[/name_m]. I speak both languages too, and if I have to pick one using the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, my vote goes for [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia. Both sounds great with Floralie and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] though.
I definitely vote [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia! I imagine her to be a deep thinker, with dark hair and strong convictions. I imagine a Clémentine to be a bit more superficial and sweet. I much prefer the depth of [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia.
I would expect the parents of [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia to be unconventional and well-educated. I would imagine the parents of Clémentine to be a bit more conventional and overly polite.
I simply adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but [name_f]Camelia[/name_f] is gorgeous too. [name_f]Camelia[/name_f] is a bit more unexpected I think, and I prefer this to the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Both go equally well with Floralie and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m].
I’m also not a fan of the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation of Clémentine. It sounds like “come ON, teen” to me. Of course, it won’t to native [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers. Clémentine, especially with the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, strikes me as quiet, somewhat aloof, and humorless. [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia seems more approachable, pretty, and smart, if not a bit dreamy and indecisive.
