Camilla or Camila?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],

Which name is better? [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] or [name_f]Camila[/name_f]?
Is [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] too stuffy? Plus the duchess connotation?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Camila[/name_f]? (Cameela) but is it too “trendy”.

Which one do you prefer?

Thanks

Both are good! I prefer [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] because the short i sounds friendlier to me.

I prefer [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] myself because I prefer the pronunciation

I prefer the softer, gentler sounds of [name_f]Camila[/name_f] and how that avoids the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] connotations

[name_f]Camilla[/name_f], because I like it more than [name_f]Camila[/name_f] for the Eneid / literary association (she was a female warrior). And I prefer [name_f]Milla[/name_f] to [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as a nickname. Actually I think of her and not the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family, but maybe that is because I am a classic student…

Maybe you will also like [name_f]Camelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Camille[/name_u]?

Neither.

I love [name_f]Camellia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cameo[/name_f] and [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] instead.

Personally I prefer [name_f]Camila[/name_f], because it looks and sounds a bit more natural to me, but I also like [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] because it sounds very open and has a pleasant ring to it.

[name_f]Camila[/name_f] all the way. [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] feels clunky, old ladyish
and less of a positive vibe to me. We have [name_f]Camila[/name_f] on our list if we ever have two girls.

I prefer [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] because I don’t love the ‘meel’ sound in [name_f]Camila[/name_f]. To me [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] sounds gentle and pretty, it makes me think of a flower garden in spring, old romantic novels and ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] temples (and further down the list, the [name_f]Queen[/name_f] consort). [name_f]Camila[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Camila[/name_f] Cabello and I’d probably assume someone with the name was Spanish (from my British/Euro viewpoint!).

Same!

I prefer [name_f]Camila[/name_f] because of the [name_f]Mila[/name_f] part. I think it’s so pretty. [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] also gives an older vibe to me.

Also love [name_f]Camellia[/name_f] as previously suggested

I like [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] more! Maybe it’s because I know a couple Camilles, but Camila-with-one-L doesn’t look ‘right’ to me. Also, [name_f]Millie[/name_f] feels more natural as a nickname to [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], and I like it more rhan [name_f]Mila[/name_f]! I don’t think the royalty association is that bad since [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] isn’t an ultra rare name that would only be associated with one figure.

I prefer [name_f]Camilla[/name_f]. It sounds quieter, gentler, less brash, more elegant.

Both are great but I prefer [name_f]Camilla[/name_f]!
