Camryn does come across a trend, and perhaps it makes me uncomfortable that people would view their baby as an accessory. Then again, there are probably other sorts of names that could fall into that category too, if I was to prod at myself and try not to be hypocritical.
I’m aware there are dangers around being elitist about names… But then I think, people do tend, understandably, to exhibit behaviours and attitudes and values of the environment they grow up in much of the time, and - having grown up working class myself, though I’m a Brit, not American - I can find that triggering, which elicits a negative response to the style of the name.
Obviously a sensitive and controversial topic, but I do believe in honest conversation.
