Can a girl name ever be too frilly?

Can a girl name ever be too frilly? If so, what are some names that you think are too princessy/flowery for an actual baby?

Of course it can, although what others deem as over the top is subjective.

To me names like [name]Arabella[/name], and [name]Angelica[/name] are sickly sweet.

On another naming site, I hear all the time that [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], and [name]Seraphina[/name] are just too frilly. [name]Arabella[/name]'s not even too frilly for me, but [name]Seraphina[/name] is. It just feels like too much. I can’t really think of one other single name that’s too frilly for me–I wouldn’t use it, I don’t really feel like I’m attracted to frilly names. [name]Liliana[/name]'s about as frilly as I go, haha. But if my husband didn’t like [name]Isabelle[/name] or [name]Arianne[/name], I would totally compromise on [name]Arabella[/name]… I love it.

I don’t think so, I love [name]Euphemia[/name], but some might see that as too sweet. To me it’s too frilly when you have 3+ names like: [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Serenity[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]

I think so, [name]Seraphina[/name], while I love it, it a bit too sweet I think. I’ll likely never get to use it, so it’s staying on my list.

Names like [name]Candida[/name] are too sweet, as for frilly I’ve encountered a good number of names that are too frilly. I can’t recall them atm though, but when I do I’ll edit them in.

[name]Daphne[/name]? Frilly? Really? I don’t think so at all.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Arabella[/name] too. I’m so sorry to see it rising up in popularity!

[name]Tiffany[/name]
[name]Candy[/name]

[name]Marianna[/name]/[name]Mariana[/name] is too frilly for me.

I think that what is “too frilly” is very subjective. It would depend a lot on who you are as an adult. I could see a no-nonsense type of person feeling [name]Juliet[/name] being too frilly and preferring [name]Julia[/name] when a romantic-soul might find [name]Julia[/name] boring and a bit severe in comparison to [name]Juliet[/name].

I mentioned in another thread a while ago that for example [name]Georgia[/name] would be as frilly as I would feel comfortable going and that [name]Georgiana[/name] for example is just too much for me. However, then again I like [name]Priscilla[/name] and if that is frilly I don’t really know what is, so… meh. If I choose a name like [name]Priscilla[/name] I’d probably try to pair it with something a little more masculine just to balance it out and allow my child the ability to choose a nn that fits her personality. So [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Irene[/name] instead of [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Josephine[/name].
