I have a friend named Shore and she HATES it and wants a nickname or to change it. I can’t seem to come up with anything. She doesn’t have a middle name.

[name]Rory[/name] is a great suggestion. I was going to suggest something like [name]Suri[/name] or maybe [name]Shea[/name] (both reaches), but I don’t think that I can think of anything more intuitive or appealing than [name]Rory[/name].
Does she have a middle name, or a last name that would make a good smoosh (ex. [name]Julia[/name] O’[name]Neil[/name] could be [name]Juno[/name]?) My cousin started going by her middle name in her early 20s and is very happy with that decision.

[name]Alexander[/name] is great- you can really take any nickname from that and use it. Lots of people are called by nicknames derived from their lasts. So I think, [name]Ali[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Xan[/name], [name]Alexi[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], and [name]Alexa[/name] are all fair game. Or maybe a mashup- Shora is nice, and sounds a bit more formal, like [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Thora[/name]/[name]Nora[/name]/[name]Flora[/name]/[name]Dora[/name].
