I’m crushing on the name [name]Cleo[/name] but I don’t care for [name]Cleopatra[/name] and I feel like [name]Cleo[/name] is too nicknamey to stand on its own. Are there any other names it can be short for?
Did a quick search and found:
[name]Cleone[/name]
[name]Cleora[/name]
Nothing that I know of (I haven’t heard of the two suggested above), but I don’t think [name]Cleo[/name] is too nicknamey at all. I think it absolutely can be a name in its own right! [name]Clio[/name] is a nice spelling too, I think.
I know a lot of Berries used to [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] nn [name]Cleo[/name]. What about that?
I immediately thought of [name]Cleone[/name]. Pronounced [name]KLEE[/name]-uh-nee.
You could also use it or names like [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Clotilde[/name], or even [name]Calypso[/name] and [name]Calliope[/name].
I’ve heard Cleodora before which I think it quite pretty.
I quite like Cleophée.
Otherwise, you could always get to [name]Cleo[/name] using both first and middle names, for example:
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Olive[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Odette[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Opal[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] Leopoldine
[name]Constance[/name] [name]Leocadia[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] Léocadie
[name]Cosima[/name] [name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name] could potentially be used as a nickname for any of these. Good luck!
There’s an old-fashioned cottage garden flower that’s Latin name is Cleome (clee-o-mee) and I have it as a backup-backup guilty pleasure name.
However, while it’s a truly pretty flower, the common name of it is Spider [name]Flower[/name], and that’s probably rather gothic for a lot of people, though it doesn’t completely put me off.
[name]How[/name] about the beautiful flower Cleome?
[name]EDIT[/name]: Oh, haha, we posted at about the same time. I guess this counts as a second for that name.
I like [name]Clover[/name] nn [name]Cleo[/name]
I think [name]Cleo[/name] stands perfectly on it’s own unlike a name like [name]Kate[/name] which to me is too nicknamey. The as PPs mentioned, there is [name]Clementine[/name] but I personally think it’s a bit too sugar-sweet.
You could always go with [name]Clio[/name], the muse of history in Greek myths. And if I remember correctly, [name]Abby[/name] at Appellation Mountain named her daughter [name]Claire[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] with the nickname [name]Cleo[/name].
My husband and I like the name [name]Coraline[/name], and I could see myself calling her “[name]Clio[/name].” I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch
I love [name]Cleopatra[/name], but I feel that [name]Cleo[/name] / [name]Clio[/name] can stand on its own.
