I currently love these ‘dated’ names, ie; names that were, at one time, on the UK Top 100 names, but no longer are. [name]Do[/name] you see any of them making a comeback? I’ve put the name with it’s UK Top 1000 of 2011 ranking.
There are some fine names here–and [name]Tia[/name] is my nickname tee-hee!
Yay:
[name]Tia[/name] - biased, but there’s also the very similar [name]Thea[/name]
[name]Aimee[/name] - love this
[name]Victoria[/name] - isn’t this a classic? I’m loving [name]Vittoria[/name] these days
[name]Mollie[/name] - cute
[name]Eloise[/name] - cute
[name]Katherine[/name] - classic
[name]Natalie[/name] - I prefer [name]Natalia[/name], but [name]Natalie[/name] is nice
[name]Danielle[/name] - Nice
[name]Nicola[/name] - Fresher than [name]Nicole[/name]
[name]Stephanie[/name] - My mom’s name so I’m biased haha I really do like it though
[name]Rhiannon[/name] - This is a cool name
[name]Gemma[/name] - Really like this one. Nice alternative to [name]Emma[/name]
[name]Tia[/name] - cute, but [name]Mia[/name] is the new [name]Tia[/name]
[name]Aimee[/name] - this will come back when little [name]Aimee[/name]'s are being named after their grandmas
[name]Victoria[/name] - classic, will come back
[name]Mollie[/name] - on trend, I’m surprised it’s not more popular
[name]Eloise[/name] - on trend, but might fade if people get bored of [name]El[/name]- names
[name]Laila[/name] - on trend, but might fade if people get bored of L-loaded names
[name]Laura[/name] - classic, but I don’t see a revival any time soon
[name]Courtney[/name] - pretty well rooted in the 80s and 90s, maybe when those girls are grandmas
[name]Katherine[/name] - classic, Duchess [name]Kate[/name] has brought extra attention outside the UK
[name]Tegan[/name] - not a fan of this one, I hope it doesn’t revive
[name]Natalie[/name] - cute, fairly popular now as [name]Natalia[/name] and around [name]Christmas[/name]
[name]Natasha[/name] - I don’t see this becoming popular any time soon
[name]Kelsey[/name] - cutesy, people like that sort of name
[name]Ellen[/name] - most people show preference for [name]Elena[/name], but [name]Ellen[/name] may regain attention in the backlash of overly frilly names
[name]Kayleigh[/name] - will revive in different spellings
[name]Danielle[/name] - might or might not make a comeback
[name]Kate[/name] - the new [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] for middle name spot
[name]Louise[/name] - getting some attention, but I’m not sure it will ever reclaim its former glory
[name]Nicola[/name] - I see the potential…
[name]Morgan[/name] - another possibility when there is backlash against frilly names
[name]Stephanie[/name] - when Stephanies are grandmas
[name]Chelsea[/name] - maybe, but I prefer not
[name]Ashleigh[/name] - maybe when her granddaughter is named after her
[name]Kimberley[/name] - I hope this goes back to the boys
[name]Gemma[/name] - making waves over the pond
[name]Kirsty[/name] - probably not
[name]Kelly[/name] - the boys will reclaim this one
[name]Rachael[/name] - maybe, but probably not
[name]Rhiannon[/name] - I don’t expect to see this one again
[name]Heather[/name] - I’d like to see this one revive
[name]Claire[/name] - this one moved to the middle
I think pretty much any name could make a come back, it’s really just a matter of time. I think the majority of these names will eventually come back, if not already making one (Hello, [name]Eloise[/name]!)
I am sure some of them will. My mother and aunt think that some of the names I see as classic beauties are so old fashioned. I wouldn’t be surprised if one day I have a daughter or granddaughter who thinks [name]Whitney[/name] or [name]Heather[/name] is a unique, vintage name while I’ll think its dated.
From your list I like [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], and [name]Gemma[/name].
