Can Donna be cool again?

The title pretty much says it all - [name_f]Donna[/name_f] was in the top 100 for half a century (mid-1920s to mid-1970s), do you think it can feel cool/fresh again? Between our big Suits rewatch (by far the coolest character on that show happens to be a redhead named [name_f]Donna[/name_f]), That 70s Show (again, a redhead named [name_f]Donna[/name_f] was my favorite character) and superhero cred ([name_f]Donna[/name_f] [name_m]Troy[/name_m] aka [name_u]Wonder[/name_u] Girl is [name_u]Wonder[/name_u] Woman’s protĂ©gĂ©), this name has a lot of really positive associations for me and I’m liking it more and more!

Not very soon, but it will be cool someday

Hmmm maybe! I really like [name_f]Lana[/name_f]! There aren’t many D girls names that I really like

I wouldn’t say it’s “cool” or “in” right now, but it’s certainly wearable! I would like to see it come back – it fits with current sound trends and is a very nice name.

In about 50 more years

Eventually I think it will come back but not yet

I think it could make a comeback, just not quite yet

Maybe I’m weird but I think [name_f]Donna[/name_f] is cool :joy: like you say, it’s [name_u]Wonder[/name_u] Girl’s name, and I associate it with the mum from Mamma [name_f]Mia[/name_f] who was definitely a cool lady!

Definitely! It’s a little dated but I don’t know many Donnas of any age, and I think it sounds like a name that could easily be fashionable now, if it weren’t for its popularity a few decades ago. It’s got that simple, A-ending shape of so many current girl names, like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

I think it needs a little more time, but sure!

I have always liked [name_f]Donna[/name_f] and [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]. Im surprised they aren’t come-back ready. Like if [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] are, why not [name_f]Donna[/name_f] which I personally think is prettier!

If [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is so popular why not [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]? (Sorry, [name_f]Donna[/name_f] and [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] are unrelated but I thought about them both reading this).

I think [name_f]Donna[/name_f] has enough cool pop culture references to be used today. It may be a gem thst its not popular right now but certainly recognized?

I know a little [name_f]Donna[/name_f]! in a few years, [name_f]Donna[/name_f] could be ‘cool’, but I think that it’s too heavily associated with middle age for now.

I don’t see anything wrong with [name_f]Donna[/name_f]. I met a little girl several years ago when she was 3 and her name was spelled [name_f]Danna[/name_f], but pronounced like [name_f]Donna[/name_f]. (Spanish pronunciation). She is probably in 5th-6th grade right now. I say go for it!

Someday, but the world would probably have to get past the [name_f]Madonna[/name_f] association first.

I really like it! I also associate it with Mamma [name_f]Mia[/name_f]/ [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] Streep and [name_f]Donna[/name_f] from That 70’s Show, which are not bad associations at all.

I think [name_f]Donna[/name_f] could be freshened up and used ahead of the trends. It has a warm sound and reminds me of the 70’s in a nice way. It’s actually #290 in the Netherlands as of 2020.

In the right combo, it could really shine.

To me it is too Trump and too dated, but that may be just me. It’s certainly not off limits.

I love [name_f]Dawna[/name_f] only because I have a friend of that name.

I really like it. I think it will come back in popularity just like a lot of names.

I think in a LONG while. [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] is beautiful though

Hmm, I don’t think it’s quite ready for a comeback, but [name_f]Dawna[/name_f] might.
