I dont think [name]Edie[/name] can stand alone, im normally for choosing the name you like, [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Romy[/name], [name]Lily[/name] … but [name]Edie[/name], it just feel too nickname-y like [name]Fifi[/name] or [name]Elly[/name].
Also im sorry but i dont think [name]Edie[/name] [name]Alice[/name] flows good thats why i voted no.
Darn I was afraid of that. Problem is I like [name]Edie[/name] but not [name]Edith[/name] or [name]Eden[/name]
I wonder if there is a thread somewhere that this has been discussed before… haven’t found anything in my search…
I have a 25 year old coworker who is named [name]Edie[/name], not a nickname for anything else. And it works great on her. Maybe if you paired it with a longer middle name?
I think in your case [name]Edie[/name] works fine as a full name. I think it would actually be weirder to have an [name]Edith[/name] with a sister named [name]Poppy[/name], since [name]Poppy[/name] is light and girly and [name]Edith[/name] is more serious and heavy. I guess I could see [name]Eden[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name] together, but I’m not a big [name]Eden[/name] fan, so personally I’d just go with [name]Edie[/name]. [name]Edie[/name] [name]Alice[/name] doesn’t have amazing flow, but it’s not terrible. I would go with something either one or three syllables, like [name]Edie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Edie[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. [name]Hope[/name] that helps!
I don’t really like it on its own. When I meet an adult in a professional setting who introduces themself as [name]Mikey[/name] or [name]Jenny[/name], I feel like I’m being condescending when I’m talking to them. I know I shouldn’t, it’s just their name, but I feel like nicknames like that are terms of endearment. I don’t want to endear a co-worker. So I’m not really a fan of nickname-only names. There are probably other [name]Edie[/name]- I’m not very good at finding long forms for nicknames but maybe someone will have some ideas.
