Can Elle stand on its own?

I really love the name [name]Elle[/name].
However, I’m worried it may not be able to hold its own. [name]Will[/name] people think its just a nickname for [name]Eleanor[/name] (or any of the many [name]El[/name]- names) or mistake it for [name]Ella[/name]?

I think it’s short, sweet, and incredibly chic.

What do you think?

[name]Love[/name] it! I would use [name]Elle[/name] if that is what you want to call her.

I have a friend who started going by only [name]Elle[/name] in college and it has totally worked for her. I think it can absolutely work well on its own.

I studied French for years and [name]Elle[/name] means “she” in French. I would find it odd to use it as a first name for that reason.

I think it can stand on its own, definitely. It’s very pretty, and I much prefer it to [name]Ella[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], and every other name that begins with [name]El[/name]-.

Yes, sure it can

I love [name]Elle[/name]!! It was my top choice for a loooong time… unfortunately my married name does NOT flow with [name]Elle[/name]. I still love it though.

Yes! [name]Elle[/name] was my top girl name but my husband didn’t like it enough :frowning: Our daughter is 5 mos old now and I still wish her name was [name]Elle[/name] :frowning: Oh well.

Definitely love [name]Elle[/name]. As a person who is a huge fan or short, sweet and absolutely fabulous first names for girls, I say go for it.

Yep, it can! I actually know an [name]Elle[/name] with a little sister named [name]Emme[/name]. As far as I know they haven’t had any problems!

[name]Rees[/name] Witherspoons character in Legally Blond was named [name]Elle[/name]…and there is supermodel [name]Elle[/name] [name]MacPherson[/name]…so yes I think it can stand alone

**edited to add…I looked it up…Elle MacPhersons birth name is Eleanor but since she uses Elle as her name, it seems to work just fine.
