Hello Berries,
My first question: can [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] be used as a substitute for [name_u]Jean[/name_u]?
I’m very close with my grandmother, and her middle name is [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. I would only use it as a middle name in honor if her…but I don’t like [name_u]Jean[/name_u].
So, would [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] work?
Second question:
what’s your opinion on [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]?
Any other first names that could go with [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] as a middle name?
I think it works, but as a middle, it would mean a lot more to just use [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. You’re not going to say it very often anyway. [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is definitely not my thing, but it flows okay with [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and really nicely with [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
I think it would work- [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] has the “[name_u]Jean[/name_u]” sound right in the middle of it. Would your grandmother consider that honouring though? Whatever anyone else thinks, if your grandmother thinks it honours her then it does- some people feel you have to use the exact name.
I think it works because you hear “jean” in the name, and I love [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]. Still, as BonfareAzalea said, the most important thing is whether your grandmother sees that as honouring her.
Also, you could consider all variant names. [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is related to [name_m]John[/name_m], so [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Joanne[/name_f], [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] (usually pronounced the same but looks a bit prettier [name_f]IMO[/name_f]), and even [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] would all work.
I think it works and I have considered it as well! My mom is named [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Jean[/name_u] a lot, but [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] feels like a better fit with some of the shorter names that I like:
I think [name_u]Jean[/name_u] & [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] work best with names that feel very current. Some of the names I love that have a more dated aspect to them I wouldn’t pair with them. [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] or [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] for example. I think names like that pair well with something more obviously 2014 or they can read like a ‘mom name’. That’s just my opinion though. [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is rather nice, I just think [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] sounds more like a girl of today
I think it definitely works, any of the jean names would, in my opinion. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] are not personally names I would use I love the combo of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]. I think it is very pretty and elegant.
I like [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] and I think if you talk to your grandma about it then she will feel honoured by the name. I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f].
