Can getting kicked in the back hurt my baby?

[name_m]Can[/name_m] getting kicked in the back hurt my baby? I’m 16 weeks, 5 days.

I got up last night, and when I tried going back to bed my partners knees were in my spot. I tried pushing them, tapping him and asking him to move, and then shoving them out of the way. He kicked me several times in the back and then kicked me off the bed and onto my butt. Could this harm my baby? [name_m]Or[/name_m] is he protected in there?

Thank you.

Babies are very well protected, especially early on, but if you are worried you should check with your doctor to be safe.

I’m hoping that he is a very heavy sleeper and the kicking was not done on purpose in any way. Maybe it would be best to make different sleeping arrangements if he tends to move a lot in his sleep so that something like that doesn’t happen again. You’re going to be getting in and out of bed a lot during pregnancy and after, so everyone is going to have to adjust to that.

Are you okay?

Everything seems fine. Thank you for the concern.

He is a heavy sleeper and sometimes a combative sleeper he claims he had no idea he even did it.

Send that boy to the couch for the next 9 months. Not cool, even if he’s “sleeping.” Your/ baby’s safety is paramount.

HE should be the one leading that decision too, to protect you and your baby.

My midwife says to always check in with her if I have any sudden jolts to my abdomen, as it can cause the placenta to become detached (even if it’s only slight). I would definitely see your healthcare provider, just in case. If your partner is regularly such a restless sleeper, I would organise to sleep separately while pregnant. Hope you’re okay. Xx

To be fair, our daughter just turned 4 and she won’t sleep without me so she and I have been in the livingroom together since she outgrew sleeping between us. So he isn’t used to sleeping next to me anymore, he’s had the bed to himself. Lately I’ve been sneaking away once she’s sleeping to snuggle in bed with him. I learned my lesson though. I’d rather sleep on the couch with the dog. :expressionless:
