Can I use this nickname?

We have chosen to name our baby girl [name]Violette[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I am wondering if it is ok to call her [name]Etta[/name] for short. What do you think?

Thanks!

I really think you could. I love [name]Etta[/name] as a nickname for all -ette/-etta names

[name]Violette[/name] [name]Grace[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name] is cute! I definitely think it works–then again, my top choice for a future daughter is [name]Isabelle[/name] nn [name]Bella[/name], so it obviously works for me. I like the idea of [name]Violetta[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name] slightly more, but if [name]Violette[/name] is it for you, I think you can make [name]Etta[/name] work, it’s not a stretch at all. I like [name]Lola[/name], Vio, [name]Vivi[/name], V, and [name]Lettie[/name] as nns for it.

Good luck!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violette[/name] and I absolutely think [name]Etta[/name] works as a nickname. Gorgeous name choice. [name]Just[/name] out of curiosity, are you saying it vee-oh-let or vi-oh-let (like [name]Violet[/name])? I’ve known people who pronounce them both ways. [name]Kiara[/name] [name]Violette[/name] (vi-oh-let) and and [name]Violetta[/name] [name]Fable[/name] (vee-oh-let-ah). I know the last ones not your name, but it has the same pronunciations.

[name]Just[/name] curious

I think it works

We are pronouncing it like [name]Violet[/name]. We specifically choose the longer spelling for a couple of reasons, we feel it looks less like the word Violent with the extra “te” and love the nn [name]Etta[/name], and felt it was less of a stretch with the longer spelling.

Thanks everyone! Im so glad that you think it works

I agree, too, that [name]Etta[/name] works. I love it!
