I really like the idea of honoring but not using the exact name of the person/people I want to honor (main reason being that I really don’t like the names OR I want to use something more creative/uncommon). In your opinion, does [name]Jonah[/name] honor [name]John[/name]? If you don’t think it does, do you have any suggestions of how to honor [name]John[/name]?

I think it works! I like the idea of variants of the same name or the same sound. [name]Jonah[/name] has a long O sound where [name]John[/name] does not, so it’s not very close, but it’s still a nice inspiration point.
I say you could use any J name and it would be a way of honouring [name]John[/name]. I like [name]Jonathan[/name] the most and the nn of [name]Nate[/name].

Oh good, I’m glad other think this works! I have a couple family members I want to honor that have [name]John[/name] in their name, and a couple people with [name]Jo[/name] in their name, so [name]Jonah[/name] seems like the perfect solution! (Plus I actually really like this name!!)
