[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! We have a baby due in [name_f]April[/name_f]. We don’t know the gender- but have two daughters [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] (4 yo) and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] (2 yo). I have always loved the name [name_u]William[/name_u] (Will for a nickname not Liam.) but is that too similar/ rhymes with [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]? Other boy name choices are [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. But I feel like they are so common in our area and I want something a little different- yet still classic. Thanks for any/all advice!
It is very matchy but I think [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] helps break it up a bit! However, I really love [name_u]Jack[/name_u] with your girls’ names. It’s friendly and cute and adds a different sound to the set!
Other suggestions:
[name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_u]Wyatt[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
You may nickname him [name_u]Will[/name_u] but others may end up calling him [name_u]Billy[/name_u] which rhyme’s with [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. That wouldn’t bother me if they did but depends on how you would feel about rhyming.
I think it’s absolutely fine! Since they’re a boy and a girl, and one is one syllable and the other two, people would be unlikely to ever mix them up, and I don’t think they’re too matchy. There are probably many sibsets out there with a [name_u]William[/name_u] and a [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], etc!
I think it’s fine. [name_u]Will[/name_u] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_u]William[/name_u] sound different enough to me, and I think [name_u]Will[/name_u] is a more likely nickname than Billy/Willie/Liam.
They’re totally different and pair well!
It wouldn’t have occurred to me that they’re close at all. But maybe that’s a pronunciation thing. Here in the UK [name_u]William[/name_u] is usually not annunciated clearly so it becomes will-yum more than will-ee-um, so the ‘rhyming’ isn’t as evident.
I think they make lovely siblings
I know siblings named [name_u]William[/name_u] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. Their parents were very clear from the beginning that it’s [name_u]William[/name_u], not [name_u]Billy[/name_u], and I think they work well together.
I would choose Jack!! [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], and [name_u]Jack[/name_u] is such a cute sibset.
I also know siblings named [name_u]Will[/name_u] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. So I think you’re fine!
I don’t think its a problem at all. I am surprised [name_u]William[/name_u] isn’t more popular than [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] where you live!
I wouldn’t use it.
[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_u]Will[/name_u] and [name_f]Lil[/name_f]. I think it’s too close! What do you love about [name_u]William[/name_u] and would you be able to find something that you love just as much? Maybe if you put [name_u]William[/name_u] aside it’ll help you make the decision. If you don’t love anything as much, it’s still a great name! Plus [name_u]Will[/name_u] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] won’t always be paired. Hopefully one day they’ll be starting their own families!
I know siblings named [name_u]William[/name_u] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and it has never been an issue.
It’s too close sound wise to me, but I don’t think it’s a huge deal.
They are not so close. You are good!!
As children when you have more control over what they are it would work fine but where I live, so many adults named [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] are called [name_f]Lil[/name_f]. [name_f]Lil[/name_f] and [name_u]Will[/name_u] are too close
Most Lilly’s that I know get Lil regularly, even if it isn’t like an official nickname that they introduce themselves with.
I think it’s fine. I’m sure there are lots of siblings called [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_u]Will[/name_u] / [name_u]William[/name_u]
I don’t think it’s too close at all!
