I have a long time crush on the name [name]Maisie[/name] but DH will never let me get away with it as a full name! I can’t use [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] etc (all vetoed!). I’ve recently been loving the name [name]Matilda[/name] - mn most likely [name]Mary[/name] as it’s a family name.
Does [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Mary[/name] nn [name]Maisie[/name] work?

Yep! It seems like [name]Maisie[/name] works for any name that starts Ma-, and even if it didn’t work for [name]Matilda[/name] you could use it as a nickname for [name]Mary[/name] since that is the middle name (and Nameberry says [name]Mary[/name] is an established full name for [name]Maisie[/name]).
Not to hijack this thread, but just throwing in: is [name]Maisie[/name] a legit nn for [name]Magnolia[/name]? [name]Magnolia[/name] is currently our top girl’s name, but DH doesn’t like [name]Mag[/name]/[name]Maggie[/name] nn, which seems more obvious to me. He loves just [name]May[/name] as a nn, but I have a feeling I will be adding the -isie for cuteness at least while she’s little.
For you, I think [name]Matilda[/name] to [name]Maisie[/name] is a bit of a stretch, but you can do it if you want. 
Especially with [name]Mary[/name] as a middle. Personally, though, I love [name]Tillie[/name] or [name]Tilda[/name] for a [name]Matilda[/name] nn.

I don’t usually like nn’s that are ‘a bit of a stretch’ but in the case I think it might be my only chance to have a [name]Maisie[/name]! I love the full name [name]Matilda[/name] and don’t mind [name]Tilly[/name], but I really dislike [name]Mattie[/name]! Could that be a problem?
I do think [name]Maisie[/name] is a legit nn for [name]Magnolia[/name] @loisvs - it’s not as intuitive as [name]Mag[/name]/[name]Maggie[/name], but, as was said above [name]Maisie[/name] can work for Ma- names!
That’s my problem, too, @circus85. We considered [name]Matilda[/name] for a while, but I dislike [name]Mattie[/name]. Also, I’m not sure if [name]Tilly[/name] / [name]Tillie[/name] is one of those names that sounds super cute on first hearing, but would annoy me after a while…
[name]One[/name] other note about [name]Matilda[/name]: I still love the full name completely, but am a bit dissuaded from using it because it’s really trendy in the UK right now. [name]Just[/name] fyi in case you don’t want a more popular name.
