I recently started liking McRae as a first name, but I don’t know if it’s too out there.
To be honest, my first thought was the McRib, and I haven’t even eaten at McDonalds in like 7 years.
Both Mc- names and [name_u]Rae[/name_u] are trendy so I can see it used.
Tate McRae is a teenaged singer.
Can it be? Sure. Would I recommend using it as a first name? No.
Thanks everyone, if I want to use [name_u]Rae[/name_u] as a nickname for a future child I’ll probably go with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] instead.
Lol I didn’t think of that.
Yes, if McDonald’s added a new item to their menu.
In all seriousness, I simply can’t picture this as a first name at all, sorry.
Have a nice day.
I actually work with a woman whose first name is McRae. I had never heard of it before, but I can promise you I did not look at that woman and think, ‘Huh…her name is like McDonald’s McRib.’ Because we spend so much time talking about and thinking about names, I’ve noticed that people on naming forums/sites have more of a tendency to point out things that most people in everyday life would probably not think of. lol That being said, McRae is not my style, but if you like it and want to use it as a first name, go right ahead.
I wouldn’t use it, but you can.
Would make for a very nice middle imo as it sounds last name-y
McRae fits in with the other Mc- names. I think it could work though I do prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
I suppose it can be a name. I know of a couple whose baby granddaughter is called McK@y, so McRae doesn’t seem too far out there. But I personally am not a fan of either. They just don’t feel quite like first names to me personally.
But, you know, if you love it, go for it! I think it could work better as a mn than a fn, but it certainly doesn’t seem too offbeat for a fn today.
I will say though, I can’t dissociate it from the McRib now, after seeing @tallemaja’s comment! Lol – and I don’t eat at McD’s either!
When I say it I can only hear Cray and it makes me think of crayfish unfortunately. There are many worse names out there though!
I’m in tears at this
To be honest it sounds like a McDonald’s burger named after someone called [name_u]Rae[/name_u]. Like a celebrity called [name_u]Rae[/name_u] did a collab with McDonald’s and came out with the McRae
