My hubby and I are deciding on names for our second baby. We will (hopefully) be finding out the gender at an ultrasound in two weeks. I’d like to have the names decided before we go. The girls name has been chosen - [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]. The boys name is proving to be much more difficult. We have a son named [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Michael[/name].
So far we have:
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Edison[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name] (I know it sounds very similar to [name]Elliot[/name] but this doesn’t bother me)
[name]Crosby[/name]
My husband really likes [name]Milo[/name] as a first name but I prefer it as a middle. I’m not sure I can convince him to love another name as much. For some reason [name]Milo[/name] sounds a little goofy to me. It must be the “o” ending. Am I crazy? Is [name]Milo[/name] a name that can grow up?
[name]How[/name] about as a nick name? [name]Michael[/name] or [name]Miles[/name], or even something like [name]Mitchell[/name]?
I’m not entirely sold on [name]Milo[/name], it just reminds me of [name]Milo[/name] from the tweenees!
I like it, but it is a little more of a pet name to me than a boy’s name. All of your other names I like, better than [name]Milo[/name]. But if you’re going to go with one of the two E names, I’d say you should be prepared to feel obligated to continue with the E trend if you have more children. Some people really dislike the family alliteration thing (a la the Duggars), but if it works for you, go for it.
I definitely think that [name]Milo[/name] can be taken seriously! It seems very substantial to me. I know that some people prefer [name]Miles[/name] nn [name]Milo[/name], and I think that’s really just personal preference, but if you’re having concerns over the seriousness of [name]Milo[/name] that might be a good route for you to take. I would personally definitely be willing to use [name]Milo[/name] on its own. It’s one of my favorite names. It’s definitely my favorite option from your list. [name]Emmett[/name] would be my second, but I don’t think that [name]Emmett[/name] or [name]Edison[/name] work well with brother [name]Elliot[/name].
[name]Milo[/name] was used in the Middle Ages so I think it can stand the test of time. According to some websites, [name]Miles[/name] was introduced by the Normans and was taken from the old Germanic and Latinized name of [name]Milo[/name]. I would describe [name]Milo[/name] as spunky not juvenile.
I always thought that [name]Milo[/name] was kind of a silly name too, especially with the [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Otis[/name] reference. But I have to tell you, it’s grown on me a lot. I personally know a 3 year old little [name]Milo[/name] now, and it’s a great name for him. I don’t bat an eye anymore when I hear the name [name]Milo[/name]. I definitely think it will work if you want to use it.
I would definitely take a [name]Milo[/name] seriously! I think it’s just as respectable (if not moreso) than [name]Miles[/name]. I always thought [name]Milo[/name] nn [name]Miles[/name] made more sense than [name]Miles[/name] nn [name]Milo[/name], haha, but I know most people are the other way around.
