Can Milo work as a nick name for Miles?

We like the name [name]Miles[/name] but also like [name]Leo[/name] a lot and thought naming him [name]Miles[/name] but nick naming him [name]Milo[/name] might solve our problem since [name]Milo[/name] sorta sounds like a mix of [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] do you think that works?

I think so. I’ve seen that a lot on nameberry.

Absolutely. I prefer [name]Milo[/name] as a nickname for [name]Miles[/name] rather than as a full name as I find it too nicknamey sounding.

Yes. I think [name]Milo[/name] is a natural nickname for [name]Miles[/name].

Definitely! I think [name]Milo[/name] is a great name on its own, too.
[name]Milo[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Leo[/name]… you can’t go wrong with any of them.

My dog’s name is [name]Milo[/name] and we call him [name]Miles[/name] all the time. I absolutely think it works! And it’s a wonderful name (both of them!)

Definitely! It’s actually one of my top names.

No! What? Why?
Why not just name him [name]Milo[/name]? I like formal names and nicknames but this seems ridiculous to me. Especially since [name]Miles[/name] is one syllable and [name]Milo[/name] is two.
[name]Milo[/name] has classical Latin (as in Ancient [name]Rome[/name]) origins versus [name]Miles[/name] which is Irish.
It’s nicknaming [name]Emily[/name] [name]Emma[/name] or [name]Emma[/name] [name]Emily[/name]. Why?
(I never heard of anyone doing this before).

I agree, [name]Milo[/name] has more syllables than [name]Miles[/name] so it would be kind of bizarre to use it as a nickname. Im not too keen on choosing a name just for a nn though anyway…I always just say name them what you’ll call them, makes much more sense. If you like [name]Milo[/name] go for it!

[name]Ruth[/name] becomes [name]Ruthie[/name]. [name]Ann[/name]/[name]Anne[/name] becomes [name]Annie[/name]. [name]Grace[/name] is [name]Gracie[/name]. [name]George[/name] is sometimes [name]Georgie[/name]. [name]How[/name] is [name]Milo[/name] as a nickname for [name]Miles[/name] any different?

I prefer [name]Milo[/name] to [name]Miles[/name] but [name]Miles[/name] called [name]Milo[/name] works really well.

In my opinion there is a difference in adding an “ie” sound every now and then at the end when calling a child’s name, just because it sounds cutsie, and actually naming a child one name only to call them a completely different name. [name]Milo[/name] is a substantial name, and if that’s what you want to call him I think it only makes sense to name him that

A lot of times, it’s not an “every now and then” nickname, it’s what people go by everyday. A lot of [name]Anne[/name]'s go by [name]Annie[/name] in daily life, not just as an occasional nickname.
