Can Nina be a Nickname for Caroline?

I love the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and I love the name [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is too short for a first name so I would like it more as a nn. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] could be a nickname for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]?

Other ideas I had were: [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f]?

It’s a bit of a stretch- however I think [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (pronounced caro-leena) with the nickname [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would work! Any name ending in “ina” works in my opinion- [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Adelina[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Antonina[/name_f], etc. There are lots like this!

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is a huge stretch, it doesn’t really work, I think [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_u]Carey[/name_u],

It’s definitely a stretch, plus [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is an established name in its own right, which could cause confusion. To me, [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is almost like having two different first names.

I think [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] or [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (with the international pronunciation) NN [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would make more sense.

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] with nickname [name_f]Nina[/name_f] doesn’t really make sense to me. I think [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] with nickname [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would work well.

Yes, it’s a stretch, but it works. Any “ina” name is less of a stretch, like your idea of [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. There’s also [name_f]Lina[/name_f], which is a natural nickname to [name_f]Adelina[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], et cetera.

[name_f]Antonina[/name_f] is a real name with [name_f]Nina[/name_f] at the end. You could probably get away with making up your own, like [name_f]Natalina[/name_f], to get all the letters in there and make it make more sense for those that don’t get it.

But [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is a lovely name. I think it’s great to use it, no matter how you go about it.

Sure! I think it works for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]! It’s definitely a bit of a stretch, but I really like that! I think [name_f]Melina[/name_f], [name_u]Antonia[/name_u], [name_f]Karina[/name_f], or [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] could also work, if you’re interested in others!

The sounds are too different to me. Maybe [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f]? [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f] makes more sense to me
