It’s a perfectly fine standalone name.

To me, [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is a stand alone name. I don’t even think of it as a nickname for anything.

My thoughts exactly!

I don’t think of [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname. It’s a name in its own right.

I’ve never heard of [name_f]Nina[/name_f] being used as a nickname…I’ve met several and only known them to be just [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. I’m not even sure what [name_f]Nina[/name_f] could be a viable nickname for, exactly.

Funnily I was going through the same issue because [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is our front runner in case baby 5# is a girl and this morning after dropping the kids off at school I ran into a [name_f]Nina[/name_f] at the supermarket, I told her it was beautiful and was considering it for my baby and she told me that she loves her name and loves how everyone knows how to spell and say it, no matter where she is. Her name is also not short for anything!

It was like one of those deja vu moments and it was so great because it helped me to feel a lot more secure in our name choice!

For what it’s worth I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] feel like a wonderful set of siblings, very cohesive and all names attractive.

I’ve heard [name_f]Nina[/name_f] used as a nickname, but more often as a full name. If someone introduced themselves to me as [name_f]Nina[/name_f], I’d assume that was their full name.

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] definitely works as a full name, and I wouldn’t assume otherwise. I have an aunt who pulls it off brilliantly.

It’s perfectly fine on its own

It’s a diminutive of [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. I also have a friend named [name_f]Nina[/name_f] who name is [name_f]Penina[/name_f]. But I love the name [name_f]Nina[/name_f] and definitely think of it more as a stand alone name.
