OK, so… I know that [name]Pax[/name] has accumulated sort of celebrity/trendy vibe thanks to the [name]Jolie[/name]-Pitts. However, [name]Pax[/name] is my father’s name and was a family surname before that (there was a [name]Clarence[/name] [name]Pax[/name] a few generations back. Still really glad my grandparents were ahead of the curve and went with [name]Pax[/name] over [name]Clarence[/name]…). For me, [name]Pax[/name] has always evoked my dad’s intelligent, soft-spoken yet adventurous, grounded nature–nothing trendy about it. I like its meaning and hint o’ word name aspects, too. I have always planned to use [name]Pax[/name]–not [name]Paxton[/name] or Paxson; just [name]Pax[/name]–as a first name for a son someday to honor my dad (partner agreeing, of course).
My other favorites tend to be soft, vintage choices, though: [name]Cora[/name], [name]Alma[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Marilla[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], etc. for girls and [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Warren[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]August[/name], etc. for boys.
While a matching sibset isn’t the highest item on my naming priority list, it would be nice to have some cohesion… [name]Do[/name] you think a set like [name]Pax[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] or [name]Pax[/name] and [name]Desmond[/name] could work okay? Or does [name]Pax[/name] seem totally weird with the names I like?
Personally, I would use [name]Pax[/name] only as a middle name but then cohesive sibsets are more important to me than for you. [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Pax[/name] (I like this one), [name]Warren[/name] [name]Pax[/name], [name]Desmond[/name] [name]Pax[/name], [name]Laurence[/name] [name]Pax[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] [name]Pax[/name] (love) would have the same “feel” as your ancestor [name]Clarence[/name] [name]Pax[/name]. I guess if you just have girls, [name]Pax[/name] would be a quirky mn choice too ([name]Willa[/name] [name]Pax[/name], [name]Cora[/name] [name]Pax[/name], [name]Alma[/name] [name]Pax[/name], [name]Celia[/name] [name]Pax[/name]).
To me, [name]Pax[/name] has a more vintage feel than a trendy one. I really like it’s gentle sound. And with its family ties, I think it makes a great choice as a first name. I would use it if I were you I also think it goes well with your other names. I love [name]Cora[/name]!
I love [name]Pax[/name]! I think it goes fine with most of your names, and absolutely perfect sibset cohesion has never been a huge deal for me. The most important thing is meaning and love.
I think [name]Pax[/name] sounds fine with these names from your list: [name]Cora[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Marilla[/name] ([name]Rosalind[/name] is okay, but just [name]Rose[/name] sounds better with it) Shorter girls names seem to go better with [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Warren[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]August[/name] – [name]Lawrence[/name] spelled that way would be cool with [name]Pax[/name] because it could be shortened to [name]Law[/name] ([name]Law[/name] and [name]Peace[/name]) and [name]Desmond[/name] is left on there because I think [name]Des[/name] and [name]Pax[/name] sound cool together. [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Pax[/name] are both Latin and [name]August[/name] is the same amount of quirky as [name]Pax[/name] to me.
So I think it works fine, especially with some of the nicknames Besides, it has a ton of meaning for you.
I adore [name]Pax[/name], as well! I’ve always thought it had a more classic timeless vibe (probably due to the similar sounding [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Max[/name]), but [name]Paxton[/name] made it feel more trendy. I do think it has a bit different of a vibe from your other choices, though–probably due to the fashionable short-and-sweet name with that trendy “X”–but it could definitely work. I love @mischa’s suggestions of [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Pax[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] [name]Pax[/name].
What about [name]Patrick[/name] nn [name]Pax[/name]? The idea hit me the other day and I thought it was utterly fabulous. I think [name]Patrick[/name] fits in better with your other choices and you could still use the nn [name]Pax[/name] for it.
I am a sucker for family names, but I say put this one in the middle. The [name]Angelina[/name] [name]Jolie[/name] connection ruins it for me, but if it has that much special meaning for you then use it.
