Can Raven work for a redhead?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Raven[/name_u] is best on a dark haired person, or do you think it could work on a red haired character?

This is not a matter of naming the character but seeing how you would visulaise the name.

EDIT: More about potential Raven.
She is 40 years old. She has an 18 year old daughter, and is very energetic and perky. Her hair is, as I said, bright red. This story takes place in modern times.

I would actually really like to see [name_u]Raven[/name_u] on a lighter haired character. I think it’s just fine. The dinosaurs will not rise from the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and terrorize us just because of a non-dark haired character named [name_u]Raven[/name_u].

Personally, when I think of [name_u]Raven[/name_u], the “dark” is usually dark eyes, skin, or even personality. You go ahead and name your characters whatever the hell you want. It’s your story.

^This made me laugh so hard. It is very true though. I think it is perfectly fine, just as [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_u]Sky[/name_u], [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], etc. are fine names for anybody, regardless of whether or not they have red hair, blue eyes or are brunette.

I’d find it confusing and distracting, but an attentive writer could probably make it work.

I think it could work for a redhead! I mean, only because you are named amethyst, this doesn’t mean that you have purple eyes and it’s the same with raven.
A other idea could be that the raven is her zodiac sign. The native americans have the [name_u]Raven[/name_u] as a zodiac sign for all born between the 22 [name_f]September[/name_f] and 22 [name_f]October[/name_f].

I’m sorry when that isn’t understandable or when im having errors in it, english isn’t my mother tongue.

I definitely would visualize a dark haired character when I first see the word [name_u]Raven[/name_u] but I think it could work if you make sure you include quite a bit of description so that readers will get a new impression of her/him.

I have light brown hair and my name is a misspelling of [name_u]Raven[/name_u], and no one bats an eye, so I think it’s fine for your character.

I recently met a blonde little toddler named [name_u]Raven[/name_u], I think it’s fine. I know plenty of [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]'s and [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]'s who are fair haired (the name means dark/dark-haired), and plenty of [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]'s who don’t have crooked noses (meaning crooked nose), it’s not that big an issue.

I would actually really like to see Raven on a lighter haired character.

I second this! I think a [name_u]Raven[/name_u] with red hair is a fun idea!

I think it could definitely work, it all depends on how the character is portrayed.
