Can Rhys be a nickname for Tristan (maybe Ty)

So I chose [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] as my name (I’m trans) and I was thinking of nicknames. [name_f]My[/name_f] little sister called me TinTin and T already. And I already have [name_u]Tris[/name_u] and [name_m]Stan[/name_m] as nicknames, I was thinking that maybe [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] could be a nickname because it’s a bit similar to Ris. I was also wondering if [name_m]Ty[/name_m] could be a nickname, my little sister accidently called me [name_m]Ty[/name_m] a few times and I was wondering if it could work as a nickname. Thanks.

Tristan [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] sounds good as a middle name. I think it’s a stretch for a NN and no I don’t associate [name_m]Ty[/name_m] with [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] either. it’s more common for [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. I know a few Tristans though. One boy goes by Trist/Tristy and the other just uses the full name no nickname. [name_m]Tin[/name_m] [name_m]Tin[/name_m] is cute and so is T and [name_m]Stan[/name_m]. I think those are your best bets for NN’s.

i think [name_u]Reese[/name_u] or [name_u]Reece[/name_u] could just about work, but not [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. i agree that it’s better as a middle name than a nickname though.

It could work but it’s not intuitive and feels like quite a separate name. [name_m]Ty[/name_m] could work too

I think it would work if you are pronouncing [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] more like trees-tun than triss-tun, but if not - it does seem like a bit of a stretch. Although I think that [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is more intuitive than [name_m]Ty[/name_m]. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is a great name though and I don’t think you necessarily need a nickname!
