This is our second child and we just can’t nail it down. Our first, a boy, [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] seemed easy, strong and a little different. [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] because we loved it and the nickname Huddy and then [name_m]John[/name_m] for family names. Now, we have a girl coming and we can’t get it together. Feels like way more pressure to name a girl and get it right.
Our current top names are:
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
Middle name could be:
[name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
BUT don’t want them to sound country ([name_u]Jean[/name_u] seems to make that happen) so not sold on those either.
Names strongly considered but over due to others using/just over: [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], [name_u]Lennon[/name_u], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] and [name_f]Maren[/name_f].
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] has always been my favorite with the endless nicknames but wanting to settle on [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] or [name_u]Tally[/name_u]. However, anytime we say it out loud to people the responses are typically not favorable. Growing up with a name that sat in the number 1 spot for 15 years I hated my name (still do) but wonder if an offbeat name is actually worse.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is very handsome and hits that sweet spot of uncommon but recognizable. I think another name like that, unique but not too out there, would be the way to go. From your list with [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] the best.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] are lovely together!
Are [name_u]Jean[/name_u]/[name_u]June[/name_u] family names? Because if you’re open to other suggestions I think both [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] are lovely and not ‘too country’. [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are variations on the same name (they’re both feminisations of [name_m]John[/name_m], I don’t know if that’s intentional)
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]!! So cute and so much nickname potential.
I say forget the haters, once people meet the baby that’s what makes the name. I think most people are weird about things that aren’t familiar. If they haven’t met a [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] before, then they’re more apprehensive. Once they meet the baby they’ll get over it very quickly.
I follow a family on instagram and one of their daughters is [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] and she’s the most adorable spunky little girl. They call her [name_u]Lou[/name_u] for short. I am partial to [name_f]Lulu[/name_f].
I get what you mean when you say country vibe, but most people won’t call her the double barrelled first name and she will introduce herself or you will introduce her as just [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f].
From your list I like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] nn [name_u]Tally[/name_u] the best with [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m].
It seems like you like unisex names. I’m generally not a fan except for a few exceptions as nns ([name_u]Kit[/name_u] & [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] may be it.) . I love [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] though. [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is stunning. I wouldn’t worry about what people think if it’s your favorite. They’ll get over it once they meet it attached to a sweet little baby girl.
I think [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be such a cute name! I’ve really liked [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] for a long time bc I think it’s kind of spunky and different, especially with the overuse of [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] lately. I also really like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for similar reasons to why you like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]… So many nicknames! [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f]… all nicknames that can be cute for a child or an adult wrapped into a more mature name she could use later in life.
I think you should go with what YOU guys really like. If that’s [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], I would say choose that. It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks, they will love her no matter what! (And with all the nicknames, they have lots of options lol)
I like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] best of your options. I think [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is sweet without being too country, or [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] if you are open to suggestions.
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be my next choice, but I don’t think the flow is perfect.
If not [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], what about Tullah/[name_f]Tula[/name_f]/[name_f]Toula[/name_f]? I once met a baby named Tullah (unsure of spelling), and it was an unexpected but totally pronounceable and reasonable choice. I think the advantage of Tullah over [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is that it is slightly less flowery, while still being lovely. Tullah [name_u]Jean[/name_u] would be adorable.
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] or [name_u]Tally[/name_u] is absolutely gorgeous with [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]! I’d ignore what people around you say. I also love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] but [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] doesn’t flow particularly well. I don’t know if this is an option but what about [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]? Or [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]? I also love [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] and think [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be lovely.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is a very bold and handsome name, actually given me an idea…
But as for a girls name to match, I’m not quite sure about the names you suggested. For me, [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] came to mind with the middle name [name_u]Blake[/name_u] as it’s also a very beautiful and steady name.
Out of the names you suggested, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is by far my favourite and maybe the middle name could be [name_f]Rose[/name_f] although [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is quite popular.
Another idea is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] as middle names rather than first? I think [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Jade[/name_f] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] are all very Beautiful names.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is one of my favourites and quite similiar to [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] so maybe [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]? Let me know what you end up choosing!! Best of luck.
Use [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], and call her [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] as a a nickname.
Reasons:
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is your favorite name. It doesn’t matter what other people think because no matter what name you pick, there will be people who don’t like it. (Seriously. My mom hated “[name_f]Clara[/name_f]” when we first chose it.) There’s nothing objectively wrong with [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] (e.g., it’s not the name of an erectile disfunction medication or anything), and, by and large, the people who dislike it will come around to it once your baby is actually here.
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] isn’t a weird name, but even if it were, having an “offbeat” name isn’t actually that bad. The people who go to school with your daughter won’t even blink an eye. Five-year-olds don’t realize that [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is less common than [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. (Funny story: I went to a high school with a girl named Dazzle M@nchester and it seriously didn’t occur to me until my 10 year reunion that Dazzle is one heck of a weird name.)
Using [name_u]June[/name_u] the middle avoids the “too country” vibe. Plus, the repeated long “u” sounds in [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] make the name sound lyrical.
[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is cuter than [name_u]Tally[/name_u] and is pretty well-established as a nickname (which provides good balance since her formal name is less common). Plus, [name_u]Tally[/name_u] makes me think of tally marks and the slang term “tallywhacker” (which is a word for male genitalia).
[name_f]Talia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
Tava [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] or [name_u]Everett[/name_u]
I like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] the best. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] or [name_u]June[/name_u]
If your set on [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] I would go with [name_u]June[/name_u] as a middle.
I think [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is your best bet - people generally tend to feel better about a name when it isn’t just in theory and they know someone (for example, your baby) with the name. I think either middle works with it. I also like the previous suggestion of using [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as the middle. [name_u]Everett[/name_u], I’m just not really a fan of for a girl but it that’s your cup of tea then go for it. As for [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], it’s a nice name but I don’t like how it sounds with [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_u]Jean[/name_u]; a first and a middle that are both one syllable is already not my favorite, but both ending in an N sound doesn’t really help.
A few names that come to mind that you might like:
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is lovely, but it does have that kind of country vibe. If you love a name don’t worry about others’ reactions, it will only lead you to using a name you don’t love as much and possibly regretting it.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] with the nickname [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]? [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] go together well I think.
Someone above also suggested [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] which I think would be a cute sibling name for [name_u]Hudson[/name_u].
Also I think [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] would be a great middle name!
You may also want to consider more modern variations of the name Tallulah if that remains your favorite but isn’t a favorite of everyone else. For example: Lula, Tula, and Talia all have similar sounds but are a little more modern.
I like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u], especially with the nicknames [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or Rett or [name_u]Ever[/name_u]! So many options! [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] sound great together too!
