We are expecting a baby girl and my husband and I can’t decide on what her name should be. We have three sons;
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (Chris)
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] (Alex)
[name_m]Joshua[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (Josh)
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is set on [name_f]Julia[/name_f] but i want all my kids names to start with different letters so I’m not too keen on it. I like [name_u]Haley[/name_u] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] but my husband says [name_u]Haley[/name_u] is too modern and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is too popular. Her middle name will be [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. Please help us find a name !
I love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] I have loved [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] for years and years I also think she’d work wonders with your boys. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is perfection. Gosh it’s a shame she’s not meeting the mark for husband.
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
I would also have their own letters now you’ve got this far doing so. I really like Sophia Rosemary - and think it goes with your other, classic / timeless and sturdy names. (Hayley is sweet and zippy but doesn’t go super well with the others, I agree - though having said that, they do all have a 80s-noughties nostalgic feel of which Hayley does too.)
But otherwise, Chris, Alex, Josh &
Tabitha
Emilia
Louisa
Stella
Eleanor
Daphne
Seraphina
Tessa
Philippa (“Pippa”)
Penelope (“Penny” or “Poppy”)
Sienna
Phoebe
Livia
Florence
Marianne
Eliza
Lucinda
Margaret (“Maggie”, “Margot”)
Imogen
Tallulah
Susannah (“Sunny”, “Suki”)
Edit: Bridget (nn Bea, Birdie or Bridge etc) just popped in my head as going with your set and hitting sweet spot between Sophia and Hayley.
I like the cohesiveness of your boys’ names - [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u] and [name_m]Josh[/name_m] absolutely sound like brothers to me.
If [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is not an option, have you considered [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]? I think it would fit in really nicely with the boys.
Is there any chance you’d consider [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] as the first name? [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Josh[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is pretty great!
Otherwise, perhaps a 4-syllables, ending in -a name might be nice, to match Alexander’s 4 syllables and Joshua’s -a ending (since [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] share an ending, and [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] share a syllable count).
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Vera or [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u] or Nica)
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Dora or [name_f]Thea[/name_f] or Dottie)
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Gabbie or Ella)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Isa or Bella)
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Vica or Tori)
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Hattie or Etta)
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Ellie or [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or Nell)
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Sera or Fifi)
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Lili or [name_f]Lia[/name_f] or Lani)
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Nat or [name_u]Tali[/name_u] or Lia)
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Georgie or Gigi)
I think [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] is my favourite for you, because I love the sound of [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Josh[/name_m] and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] together! Of course you could go with [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], too.
I like Sarah or Hannah as a good fit for your other kids names and seems like maybe your style? Classic and not trendy, always in style…
Sarah
Hannah (somewhat like Haley but less modern)
Helena / Elena
Samantha
Seraphina
Laura
Emily or Emma
Elizabeth or Elise
Eve / Evie
Francesca
Katherine
Rebecca
Phoebe
You could also go with Giulia or Giuliana if you’re open to the Italian version of the name your husband likes, if that is an option for you?
Or maybe Gianna, Gemma or Giada if he likes that “J” sound?
I do agree with the suggestion of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] as a first name with the nickname [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Josh[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are sweet and cohesive. Other suggestions
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] here as well, also
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Francine[/name_f]
I have nothing new to add. I feel like you have so many great options already!
I love the Italian spelling idea: [name_f]Giulia[/name_f]
And I love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. Idk how it is where you live, but we never run into little Sophias even though it’s ranked in the top 10 or whatever.
Agree with others that [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] would be amazing as a first name. Is [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] the middle because it’s an honor name? If so, you could do different variations of [name_u]Rose[/name_u] (first name) + [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (middle name) e.g. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u].
I see a pattern with your boys’ names… long, multi-syllable, formal names and four letter, short nicknames. Ideally it would be fun to do the same with a girl’s name.
