[name_m]Just[/name_m] follow me, for a moment if you don’t mind… really just throwing this out there. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]… and seriously considered it… almost chose it, then thought; wait, we have a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]… [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is 2, so they would be relatively close in age. I was talking to my sister yesterday, and we were just talking names… she has a very different style than me, but we were throwing out names we loved and I mentioned [name_f]Clara[/name_f]… she says “why didn’t you use it?” “It sounds so like you, and the girls”… and I said “It’s too close to [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]” she says “that’s ridiculous; it is a separate name, who cares if they sound a bit a like”… hmmm, I thought a bit a like? She went on to tell me how she knows several families with children who have similar sounding names ([name_m]Kellen[/name_m] and [name_m]Callen[/name_m] was one example (at that point I just didn’t want to be rude, LOL!)…Then I pointed out that our [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s name is [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f]… umm, isn’t that also a wee bit close? Again she said I am obsessive, and it is a separate name, LOL! SO, thought I would pose the question to my fellow berries! Can you have a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] in the same family?
It would look like this:
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]??
Thanks ![]()
I think as long as you say it ‘KLAH-ra’ it’s not too bad.
Yeah, I do think they are rather similar, but if you pronounce them CLAH-ra and SAIR-ah so they don’t rhyme, I think you could do it.
I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f], btw.
Upon discussing this with my ever so wise 7 yo, [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] she says “mom, [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] sounds much better than [name_f]Clara[/name_f]” LOL!!
I think they are rather similar. I’m not sure I could do it. I get confused with all the A names in my house, and
none of them sound alike.
What about using [name_f]Claire[/name_f]? Or using it for a middle name?
I do like it, I just think it would
be somewhat confusing for you and for the girls.
I agree with the other ladies that it depends on how you say it. If you rhyme [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], I wouldn’t do it. If you say them differently, then I think it could work. I do agree with your daughter that [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] works better purely because you’ve got three -ah ending names in a row ([name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f]) while [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] breaks it up a bit better.
Depends on pronunciation. (Is there an echo here?!!!)
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] = clah-ruh
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] = sair-ruh
That’s fine.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] = clair-uh
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] = sair-uh
That’s not fine.
I personally wouldn’t do it, not because you have a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f],but because I think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are too much. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is gorgeous though. What happened to [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]? [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] was the front runner wasn’t it? I think thats beautiful too.
While I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f], I think it is just a bit too rhyme-y with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].
Yes, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is lovely, but I couldn’t bring myself to give my children names that rhyme.
Nah, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is out… I was just making sure I wasn’t nixing it in a strange naming OCD obsession, LOL! I am glad to see I am not alone in my thoughts. I have always thought it was too close, though I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]- ack! you people are trying to kill me aren’t you
O.K. it looks like we are still going with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], I am pretty sure she will be [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but I still waiver:/ This morning thoughts of [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] continued to race through my head… I do love [name_f]Anna[/name_f]…
As for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], hubby strongly protests another S name… so I have had to push her aside… hubby never really liked [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] as much as I did, anyway… so I really don’t see a point in fighting for it anymore, unless out of the blue hubby just decides he loves it, which I do not see happening.
Now, the name MUST contain [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]… per hubby, which is fine, I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] (though yesterday, decided not quite enough to give her the first name position), plus hubby has been generous in allowing me to use many family names from my side, and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] was his grandmother’s name. This morning I was toying around with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]… I kind of like the sound of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]… Very Southern sounding, don’t you think?
Too close!
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is very pretty but I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] more.
Lol!
Well, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is very cute, does sound very southern.
I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. And [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] nn joy.
Did you say no to [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]? I cant remember. All my posts are running together.
Sorry, no.
My name is [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and if I had a brother named [name_m]Nate[/name_m], I would have been SO confused for most of my life. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is beautiful, but so is [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
edit: Sorry, didn’t read your second post. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are AMAZING. I especially like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. You have great options.
Well I still prefer [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] over all, that is one spectacular and jaw-dropping combo. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is just so pretty to me, but then again there’s nothing wrong with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (and I do think I recall it being a significant name to you?) so if you decide to go with that I think it sounds a little bit nicer as [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. =]
