I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]! However [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is out if the question as we’ve got one in the family already and though there seems to be so many options I can’t seem to settle on one. I generally like nn’s with a bit of spunk!
[name_f]Dora[/name_f]…too [name_f]Dora[/name_f] explorer? Doesn’t feel very spunky…
[name_u]Dory[/name_u]…I do find this quite sweet…
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]…feels a bit unnatural? And also just don’t [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it!
[name_f]Zora[/name_f]…too sci fi warrior princess? Mask of Zorro?
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]…love this but is it Too much of a stretch?
[name_f]Zsazsa[/name_f]… Seems a bit much
Can you think of any others? Which ones come naturally to you for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and which ones are a stretch? What’s your personal favourite? & What sounds best with sibling nn tilly/tilda? Lots of questions I know
isadora:
I also like [name_u]Dory[/name_u].
I also thought of [name_f]Zara[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Zora[/name_f].
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]…but this is common and not too spunky if you ask me
[name_f]Ora[/name_f] is so pretty.
[name_u]Rae[/name_u] could work but it is pushing it.
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] sounds too old-ladyish
A list of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] nns that like or at least thought of right away:
[name_f]Ora[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_u]Ira[/name_u]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
izzie
my faves are [name_f]Ora[/name_f], [name_u]Rae[/name_u], zara, and maybe some more if I try…
isadora :
isa pronounced Eyesah
Anything else I think of sounds like I am trying too hard.
I like [name_f]Zora[/name_f] too. For me it’s not too SciFi because it reminds me of the fairytake The Frog [name_m]Prince[/name_m] (when I was a child we had a Frog [name_m]Prince[/name_m] video tape where the princess name was [name_f]Zora[/name_f] :))
My name is [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and I usually go by [name_u]Isa[/name_u] which is pronounced Eesah
I love [name_f]Zora[/name_f] and [name_u]Sadie[/name_u], but not as nicknames for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. My favorite nn would be [name_u]Isa[/name_u] (pronounced EE-suh).
I really like [name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_u]Dory[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] from your list. I think [name_u]Isa[/name_u] is a good nickname. Good luck!
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] is wonderful, with a great namesake in Z [name_u]Neale[/name_u] Hurston.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] is an unexpected one. I like that it contains “roar!” Good for a little girl to feel like she’s got some roar.
I think [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_u]Isa[/name_u] would be the most intuitive. [name_u]Dory[/name_u] also works. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is more of a stretch, but still works. If you really love [name_u]Rory[/name_u], though, I think it’s a possibility. It is a bit of a stretch, but if people accepted that [name_u]Rory[/name_u] was short for [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] on “[name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls”, I think you can make it work for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], too. For what it’s worth, I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] the best.
I have my own little [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] at home, and I am having the same trouble finding a nickname.
My thoughts:
[name_f]Dora[/name_f] the [name_u]Explorer[/name_u] is very irritating to adults, and for this reason many people I know who have kids really don’t like the name [name_f]Dora[/name_f]
I have a girlfriend named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] who hates her name. She says many people consider it a dog’s name, and when she was a kid she was teased and barked at.
[name_u]Izzy[/name_u] sounds too harsh and masculine to me.
I am considering giving her a new first name and bumping [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] to the middle spot to solve the problem. Names under consideration are [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Zora[/name_f] is both unexpected and spunky, and oh-so-cool! While I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], generally, I would love to meet one with the nn [name_f]Zora[/name_f]. I think it’s a lot of fun. I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], too, but I find it hard to get [name_u]Rory[/name_u] from [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] never seemed to make too much sense to me–I know it works, and it’s not terribly far-fetched (the “sad” part is right there!)–I just don’t think people will generally think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] = the nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. Still a sweet nn, though.
