What are your honest opinions on my top three names?
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m]
DH and I love this name. At home it has cracked top 100 names but I still worry about the funny looks from people as it is a little uncommon. Our last name starts with S and would go very well with this. This is our favourite but will we regret it as he gets older?
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m].
I think this is really sweet and I’m not too worried it is common. We also think it goes well with the middle name.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m].
I feel this would suit any personality. However I don’t love the nicknames and really like the full name. Would people naturally call him by a nickname?
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m] is my favorite too. Both are classic names and I doubt anyone would give you funny looks. It flows nicely and sounds the best of the three. Go for it! It’s fantastic.
My personal favourite is [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], but I’d pick [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m] for you. If it’s your favourite, go for it! It’s not too out there but feels very cool and quirky, despite rising popularity (I’m in the UK), and I really like alliteration so I’d love this with an S surname.
If you’re really on the fence with it, how about [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname? [name_m]Samson[/name_m], [name_m]Orson[/name_m], [name_m]Edison[/name_m], [name_m]Greyson[/name_m]…?
It sounds like [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is truly your favorite, so you should use that! Funny looks are inevitable with any name when they’re young. I personally prefer [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] but either way, it’s a very sweet name.
I love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] but I agree that the nickname situation is a little rough. If you don’t naturally gravitate to one it’s possible people will just call him “[name_m]Bastian[/name_m]” for short. (A lot of people convince themselves that no one will ever shorten their child’s name, but if it’s 3 syllables, it is definitely inevitable that at some point people will shorten it.)
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a sweet name, but it has become rather trendy and popular lately. It really just depends on how much that bothers you.
My personal favorite is [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], since [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is too popular for me and I agree that it’ll almost definitely get shortened. I can’t get behind [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], it just doesn’t feel like a name to me when it’s on a boy, if that makes sense.
However, if you really love it you should use it. Would you consider using [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname, or using [name_u]Ronny[/name_u] instead? [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] could be a nickname to [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] or any -son name. Oh, and I don’t mind the alliteration thing, I quite like it actually.
Though I personally prefer [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname (one of my very favorite nicknames) it can totally be an independent name. And if where you’re from it’s in the top 100 I’m guessing lots of nicknamey names are being used as given names and it’s not a big deal. It’s obviously your favorite, use it!
I do like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] too though. It’s very sweet and pairs well with [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is a fine name but it doesn’t excite me like the others and it sounds like you feel the same.
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is getting more & more common, and given that [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is such a long name I think that people will naturally shorten it. Go with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], it is clearly your fave!
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname is fine, but I just can’t see it as a full name–especially on an adult. I love both [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], with [name_u]Perry[/name_u] as a nn for the former and Bash as a nn for the latter.
I prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] from your list. I agree with the others about using [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname.
I find [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] a bit too nicknamey for my personal taste; could you use it as a nickname for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]? It definitely works. Then you get to use two of your favorite names! Incidentally, my son is [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]; we are into nicknames and call him Bash and Bashy most often, but he definitely gets just [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] too.
I just came back on here to suggest [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]! It definitely works if you really don’t feel comfortable using [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as the full name.
What would you know, I’ve come to join the boat of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]! I’ve known/met a couple of [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]'s, and it could definitely work on its own, no worries about it being silly or not aging well, though adimitedly I have no idea if all of the [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]'s were named or nicknamed that, only one for sure I know what a junior (with an unrelated name) and they just came up with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname.
I also adore the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], but I’m not sold on [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]. The names are rhyme-y, I’m torn between finding it funny or spunky. I think a bit of both.
In short, don’t worry about [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], if that’s your favorite. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] can also make for a safe, longer name for [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]. If not [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is my runner up. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] by itself / other nicknames is… nice; a safe, charming, though slightly boring (sorry!) option.
I think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is adorable, though I can definitely still picture it on an adult. And it’s very handsome paired with [name_m]George[/name_m].
I only know one [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], but he’s never been called by an nickname.
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] is so sweet and handsome. I agree with other posters though, it sounds like you really love [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m]! I can definitely see [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a full name, and I think its adorable. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is my personal favorite, but I think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is perfect for you.
(I’m not a huge fan of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] myself, but I see the appeal. I grew up with one, and he never went by a nickname so its possible!)
