We spent two months thinking our youngest would be [name]Mae[/name] [name]Mazarine[/name] nn [name]Maisie[/name] before she was born, and then it just wasn’t right. I have never been settled with her name [name]Arden[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (which is beautiful) and we call her [name]Birdie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (which works for her).
I just found out this baby is a girl and can’t even come up with a short list - I think I just love [name]Mazarine[/name]. Would it be weird to use it this time? Has anyone used their almost used names for subsequent kids?
I don’t think it’s weird at all! I had a name that I was sure was The [name]One[/name], but then my daughter was born and it didn’t suit her at all. I still adore the name, and if the baby I’m carrying is a girl, it will definitely be at the top of the list!
I think it would be a sweet story to tell her you were thinking of her even before her older sister was born, because you loved her name but knew her sister wasn’t “her”! That would have made me feel super special when I was a kid.
Yes, I did this. I have four girls so I used a couple of our names that were on my “almost used” list. My husband and I settled on a named for our oldest very easily so I didn’t have a long list with her, but I considered more names when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter. My 3rd daughter’s name was on this list as well as my 4th daughter’s. I think my 4th daughter’s name would have suited my 2nd born very well, but I’m glad I saved my 3rd daughter’s name. I can’t imagine her as anything but [name]Jane[/name].
With DS1 we both had fave names, but DP let me have my name choice. So for DS2 I let him use his. DD’s name was a name that had been on our list since DS2. We don’t choose names by whether they suit the baby, just by whether we love them enough at the time, so we reuse names if we still love them.
I think that is just the sweetest way of looking at it!
And I agree, I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I also love the name [name]Maisie[/name], and [name]Mazarine[/name] is a very cool, and pretty way to use it as a nickname.
