Can you weigh in on Ginevra?

[name]Do[/name] you like or dislike this name. What mn’s work with it? Last name starts with P and is 2 syllables.

I adore [name]Ginevra[/name]! Personally, I’ve always thought it’s the perfect way to get to the nn [name]Ginny[/name]/[name]Jinny[/name]/[name]Ginni[/name]/Jinni (however you want to spell it) without having to lump for the inevitable-teasing-and-not-so-pretty [name]Virginia[/name].
It sounds like there wouldn’t be any problems with your surname, either.
If you wanted, you could probably nickname her [name]Evie[/name], too …
Middle names … I would say pretty much anything that doesn’t have a ‘j’ sound or end in an ‘ah’ sound. What kind of a middle name are you looking for (long/short/feminine/traditional/quirky etc.)?

I really like [name]Ginevra[/name], too. I’ll pretend your last name is [name]Parker[/name]…

[name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Mae/name (not sure if the repetitive Vs in [name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] are a plus or a minus…Hmm… There’s always [name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! :-))
[name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Maude[/name]
[name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (Wait…I forgot about your last name!)

Good luck!

I’m sorry but it makes me think of germs. I think I prefer [name]Minerva[/name] or even [name]Geneva[/name].

I’m sorry, but I love [name]Geneva[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] more. But I will think about it. Lots of times names grow on me!

I really don’t like [name]Ginevra[/name]! (Sorry!) I think that [name]Genevieve[/name] is a much better choice.

[name]Ginevra[/name] is too close to [name]Jennifer[/name]. It reminds me of the word theater and how you sometimes see it spelled theatre, and some people mock this spelling by affecting an accent, thay-ah-tah. It’s not [name]Jennifer[/name], it’s [name]Gin[/name]-ev-ra. It’s pretty, it’s different, but right now, it seems a little pretentious of an appellation unless you are writing us from [name]Italy[/name], and there, it’s probably fine.

I like the name due to its association with [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] ([name]Ron[/name]'s sister [name]Ginny[/name]'s full name is [name]Ginevra[/name].)

It reminds me of [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] too, so I tend to like it. But I’d definitely go with a nickname of [name]Ginny[/name]. CUTE

I think it’s pretty. I’m imagining that it’s pronouned [name]Gin[/name]-KNEE-vrah. Is that right? In that case I don’t think it’s similar to [name]Jennifer[/name] at all. [name]Jennifer[/name]'s kind of plain jane to me, but [name]Ginevra[/name] sounds nice and lends itself to some good nickname possibilities.

I like it, I also like [name]Geneva[/name] and the nickname [name]Ginny[/name] too!

I still like it
Personally, I’m not fond of giving children obvious place names, so I don’t like [name]Geneva[/name] …
And I really don’t think [name]Ginevra[/name] is any more pretentious than [name]Genevieve[/name], and especially not if you nickname her.
Perhaps people aren’t mocking the theatre spelling, they are actually trying to affect an English accent (it sounds like the same thing most of the time …)? We spell it theatre over her (and pronounce it thee-at-er).

I actually am kind of in love with [name]Ginevra[/name]! [name]Ever[/name] since reading it in [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], it has kept creeping in to my mind!
Of course, it’s only mentioned once or twice in passing in the books so if the association is a concern for you, I wouldn’t worry much.
My only concern would be that it would be mistaken for Ginerva. I know I misread it that way at first. Not really a big deal though!

[name]Ginny[/name] is an adorable nn too!

Oh, it’s [name]Gin[/name]-eve-rah! I’m sorry, the whole time I’ve been reading it as Ginerva,
[name]Gin[/name]-erv-ah! [name]How[/name] did I do that?

I’m still not a big fan, but [name]Ginevra[/name] is much better.

[name]Hi[/name] Twinkle, glad for you not to hate the name - I did say it is a pretty name, but with the massive popularity of [name]Jennifer[/name], I thought it sounded and other people will likely make the mistake too. I didn’t do the whole [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] thing, so people might be more familiar and take to it easier than I thought.

As for theater/theatre - I used to work in a theatre, not a movie theatre, some of my work has been in live theatre crew or office (not an actress). We pronounce that theatre just like a movie theater. Some people make a big deal out of warping the pronunciation though. Not anyone who worked there.

Thanks for your imput on this name.

I think it’s pretty too and I love [name]Ginny[/name] in [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], but I did think for a long time that her name was Ginerva (rhyming with [name]Minerva[/name]). It’s always my instinct to say that when reading [name]Ginevra[/name]. But I do think it’s different and pretty!

[name]Ginevra[/name] is not my favorite, especially because i feel like [name]Ginny[/name] might be a nickname ([name]Ginevra[/name] I like much better than [name]Ginny[/name]). But I do think that [name]Ginevra[/name] would make a really cool middle name (i love interesting middle names!). I really like everyone else’s suggestions already posted, so i wont suggest more of the same!

It sort of sounds like a type of drug. Like viagra for women. If you really love it, though, that’s all that matters. I think any child loves her name if her mother says it with a lot of love in her voice.

I like [name]Genevra[/name]! In fact, I ran across a french word Genevrier today, which is cool…I don’t know where I was going with that story…anywhooo.
