[name_f]Happy[/name_f] [name_f]Canada[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]! :canada: :canada: :canada:

I mean, these are Canadian places and figures, but I think they still count :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, a lot of these places are in [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], mostly because that’s where I’m from and therefore am most familiar with names from!

[name_m]Wayne[/name_m] (Gretzky)
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_u]Crosby[/name_u]
[name_m]Drake[/name_m]
[name_m]Keanu[/name_m] ([name_m]Reeves[/name_m])
[name_u]London[/name_u]
[name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]
[name_m]Halifax[/name_m]
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] (MB)
[name_m]Dryden[/name_m]

[name_f]Celine[/name_f] ([name_m]Dion[/name_m])
[name_f]Avril[/name_f] (Lavigne)
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f]
[name_u]London[/name_u] (works for either imo!)
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] (Winnipeg)
[name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Avonlea[/name_f] (@anon68906791 actually love this idea!)
[name_u]Anne[/name_u] ([name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables)
[name_u]Windsor[/name_u]

Ooh, probably names of really Canadian people so:

Atwood
[name_u]Terry[/name_u]
Laurier
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_u]Crosby[/name_u]

I also find there to be a lot of names that I only hear in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], moreso than Anglophone parts of [name_f]Canada[/name_f] or even in [name_f]France[/name_f]:

Thierry
Léonie
Ève
Léa
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Flavie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f]
[name_u]Romy[/name_u]
Benoît

And then there are the names of the Indigenous peoples who reside here, which I would consider to be highly out of bounds for use by non-native people, but are still beautiful to acknowledge:

Aki (Ojibwe)
Ziigwan (Ojibwe)
Migizi (Ojibwe)
Skaay (Haida)
Anong (Anishinaabe)
Makwa (Anishinaabe)
Sinopa (Siksika)
Sahaiʔa (Chipewyan)

(I would also suggest reading this if you’re interested in some Indigenous naming traditions http://www.montler.net/KlallamNames-Montler-SSILA2012.pdf )
