i’m sorry for posting again but just when we thought we had decided, it just doesn’t feel right. [name]Do[/name] you think the perfect name is out there or should I just settle??
our DS is named [name]Dash[/name] - here are our current top picks that both DH and I agree on…
[name]Max[/name] (too popular?)
[name]Cruz[/name] (does it sound too hollywood and like we are into movement a lot)
[name]Beckett[/name] - (umm, i dont think this is doing it for me anymore)
[name]Wylie[/name]/[name]Wiley[/name] - (really like but is it too nicknamey)
[name]Lincoln[/name] (nn [name]Link[/name]) -( i like link but am not crazy about [name]Lincoln[/name])
Names I like but have yet to convince DH
Brig
[name]Kellen[/name]
[name]Caspar[/name]/[name]Casper[/name] - do you think about the ghost?
[name]Max[/name] - I think this is too popular (and also too nicknamey) on its own; could be short for [name]Maxwell[/name]; somehow, though the full form feels too stuffy and the short form too flimsy to really work well with your son’s name. Perhaps you’d like [name]Xavier[/name] or even [name]Zachary[/name] nn [name]Zach[/name]? Or [name]Ezekiel[/name] nn [name]Zeke[/name]?
[name]Cruz[/name] - I don’t like this one, personally, unless it’s a family surname. Somehow feels like you’re trying to hard.
[name]Beckett[/name] - I think this sounds way too trendy and of the moment. [name]Bennett[/name] would be much nicer, though [name]Ben[/name] is a bit tame next to [name]Dash[/name] (though you could consider a different nn like Bent).
[name]Wylie[/name]/[name]Wiley[/name] - this is cute, but doesn’t seem like it would age well. Would you consider [name]Wyatt[/name], nn [name]Wylie[/name] instead? [name]Wyatt[/name] is an awesome name.
[name]Lincoln[/name] (nn [name]Link[/name]) - this also sounds trendy (it’s a surname AND a brand/car name - too much going on).
Brig - this reminds me of [name]Trig[/name], and I don’t like it. Maybe you’d like [name]Gregory[/name] nn [name]Greg[/name]? Or [name]Craig[/name]? (or are those a bit bland?)
[name]Kellen[/name] - I think this one sounds trendy AND feminine (like a blend of [name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Helen[/name]). [name]How[/name] about [name]Kieran[/name]? I think this sounds great with your son’s name, but might not have an easy fun nickname.
[name]Caspar[/name]/[name]Casper[/name] - I do think of the ghost I think [name]Cassius[/name] makes a great alternative, but you probably don’t want to end up with [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Cash[/name].
Some other suggestions you may like:
[name]Byron[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Clayton[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Walker[/name]
I think that if none of them feel right you might still have some searching to do… you may find something new you love or the search may help confirm that one already on your list is the one.
It sounds like you are trying to go for names that are too weird or wacky. There are some amazing straightforward names out there.
I personally love [name]Max[/name] and think it works great on it’s own.
[name]Max[/name]-- Popular yes, but not to popular to use imo. I think [name]Max[/name] goes perfectly with [name]Dash[/name].
[name]Cruz[/name]–This is such a popular hispanic last name where I live that I have a hard time picturing it as a fn. I dont care for it. And yes it is very hollywood imo.
[name]Beckett[/name]- Sounds like bucket to me.
[name]Wylie[/name]/[name]Wiley[/name]–Makes me think of [name]Wiley[/name] coyote!
[name]Lincoln[/name] (nn [name]Link[/name]) -hmmm I dont love it.
Brig- Seems like it should be a nn for something…but I’m not sure what.
[name]Kellen[/name]- I love [name]Kellen[/name].
[name]Caspar[/name]/[name]Casper[/name]–I like this name and I doubt many kids will know who casper the ghost is, that was more our generation.
We had decided on [name]Max[/name] and then people were telling me it was too common w/ [name]Dash[/name] — so I decided to keep looking and now [name]Max[/name] doesn’t seem quite right, but I still like it.
I really like the name [name]Finn[/name] but my sister said she would never talk to me again if I used it bc it is "her"name. [name]Tate[/name], this was orginally on the list - I think I will add it again, but it doesnt sound awesome w/ our last name, and [name]Leo[/name], [name]Ari[/name], [name]Nico[/name] and [name]Kai[/name] have all been on my list before…but I just don’t know. I almost named my son [name]Leo[/name] but changed my mind at the last minute.
[name]Ari[/name] - too Jewish? but my DH loves this name too…
[name]Nico[/name] - too Greek? my DH would probably go for this too…
I really don’t want a name that looks like we tried too hard - but I want a name that is not every other kids name and that I love as much as [name]Dash[/name].
[name]Leo[/name], [name]Ari[/name], [name]Nico[/name], and [name]Kai[/name] would all sound good with [name]Dash[/name]. [name]Ari[/name] is a Jewish name (I think). But I’ve never known an [name]Ari[/name], and I dont know many Jewish people either, so I really can comment on its usage. [name]Nico[/name] as a nn for [name]Nicholas[/name] would be nice too, but I think it can stand on its own too. [name]Kai[/name] works really well too with [name]Dash[/name], and it is a well accepted name so you wont sound like you are trying to hard. [name]Leo[/name] is my personal favorite. It is short and spunky and sounds great with [name]Dash[/name].
i like [name]Nico[/name] on its own its spunky and strong. i like [name]Nicholas[/name] too but its boring next to [name]Dash[/name]
i also like [name]Kai[/name]. it sounds free-spirited and easygoing like [name]Dash[/name]
i like [name]Lincoln[/name] too…i think of [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name] not the car
all of these are good choices. none of them sound like youre trying to hard. i really do love any of these three with [name]Dash[/name]
[name]Dash[/name] & [name]Nico[/name] - i think this is probably my fav. though…theyre both so energetic
