I voted [name]Gordon[/name] but also like [name]Griffith[/name]. I think both names are fantastic!
Sorry but like you pointed out, Athan does remind me of a variation of [name]Ethan[/name].
The other name I have a little difficulty with is [name]Gunner[/name]/Gannar. Where I’m from, “gunner” is the name you call a person who is “gunner do this, gunner do that”. Does that make sense…“Going to do this, Going to do that”. Basically the person talks about doing lots of things and does absolutely nothing.
Athan would be a bit confusing with all of the [name]Ethan[/name] and Nathans, but after correcting people once they should be able to “get it”. If you both love it, don’t let the possible corrections hold you back. [name]Even[/name] with a name like catherine there are so many spellings that sometimes an explanation is needed.
I also like [name]Clay[/name] and have never met one, so I dont perceive this as overly popular.
Athan just sounds like one of those made up names like [name]Braydon[/name] and the like. [name]Montgomery[/name] could be a middle name as in [name]Joel[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] or [name]Clay[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] but I wouldnt saddle my kid with as a first name. My husbands middle name is [name]Gunther[/name]. I think it would be a fine middle name but I wouldn’t want it as a first name.
