Can't agree on a boys name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! I’ve been searching several forums & reading all your posts & suggestions, & still can’t find the right boy name. I want to love it!! I thought maybe it’s because I have some specific criteria, so I’ll see if you can help.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant with #3 & we don’t know the gender. Our first is a girl, [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], and our second is a boy, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] them both and I love how they sound together. It was not intentional to have two names beginning with vowels, and both with 7 letters, so this is NOT a requirement of the third. I do have some specific things I want to include and/or avoid:

  1. Preferably not ending in -n (and definitely not -gan because our last name does).
  2. No M- names. Our last name starts with M, plus I’ve been an MM my whole life and I’m looking for something different.
  3. Prefer to have everyone get their own letter, so no A, E, or B (hubby) names, but I’m open to considering this (if it’s a great one).
  4. No popular names (definitely NOT in top 100). We like unique, but not really “out there” names.
  5. I would like it to have more than one syllable. We both sort of like [name_m]Zayne[/name_m], but it seems so short and plain compared to the first two (what do you think?).

The middle name will likely be either [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] or O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m], depending on what we decide for the first. I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] O’[name_m]Neill[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], but my hubby refuses to even consider O’[name_m]Neill[/name_m]. :frowning: I also like [name_m]Quimby[/name_m], [name_u]Campbell[/name_u], & [name_m]Kyler[/name_m] (all with O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m] as MN), but they all get a “no” from hubs. He likes [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] (which sounds too feminine to me), and [name_m]Keane[/name_m]. Hopefully these give you an idea of what we’re looking for. I can’t wait to hear your suggestions!

Oh, and by the way, if it’s a girl, her name will be either Kyndria [name_f]LeeAnn[/name_f] or Sonorah [name_f]LeeAnn[/name_f] (not 100% sure yet). [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to vote on these, too.

Thank you!!

What about [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] or [name_m]Phinneas[/name_m]? I think they both sound great with [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] or O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m] as the MN.

And I much prefer Sonorah [name_f]LeeAnn[/name_f] to Kyndria.

I like [name_m]Zayne[/name_m], even though this spelling looks quite complicated ([name_m]Zane[/name_m] or Zayn are nicer, in my opinion). What about: [name_u]Niall[/name_u] (pronounced like “[name_u]Nile[/name_u]”), [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m], [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_m]Calum[/name_m], [name_m]Teague[/name_m], [name_m]Ivor[/name_m], [name_m]Killian[/name_m], [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Calum[/name_m], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u], [name_m]Zander[/name_m], [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u]?

[name_f]Sonora[/name_f] is very pretty (I do find the “h” unnecessary — I find it uncomfortable when people misspell words from other languages). I’m sorry, but Kyndria sounds like a Pokémon name; what about [name_f]Kyra[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], Kyriake, Kyliana, or Kyrilla?

Perhaps [name_m]Zenon[/name_m]? (name of an early LA gov. [name_m]Zenon[/name_m] Trudeau)

I only know about US, popularity so I stayed away from top 100 here. If you live elsewhere, I could be completely off the mark.

[name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Phillip[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_u]Chandler[/name_u], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Octavius[/name_m], [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m], [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u], [name_m]Wayland[/name_m]/Wyland, [name_m]Chadwick[/name_m], [name_m]Gunther[/name_m], [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], [name_m]Odysseus[/name_m], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]

Some other names that didn’t meet all the criteria:
Ended in an N: [name_u]Orion[/name_u] (even though you said not ending in a n, it has a similar feel to O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m]), [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_m]Killian[/name_m]/[name_m]Cillian[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_u]Oberon[/name_u]
Started with the same letter: [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], Alberic, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
One syllable: [name_m]Gage[/name_m], [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_u]Reece[/name_u], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_m]Bruce[/name_m]

For girls, I prefer Sonorah [name_f]LeeAnn[/name_f].

For boys I would suggest:
[name_m]Tanner[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Neil[/name_u]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Kellan[/name_m]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]/[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_m]Grayson[/name_m]
[name_m]Trey[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
(sorry for all the suggestions ending in N–that is a hard one to avoid!)

For girls, I prefer [name_f]Sonora[/name_f], although to be honest I don’t really like it or Kyndria and neither name really seems to “fit” with your others children’s. I would suggest for girls:
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Kendra[/name_f]
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Alva[/name_u]
Aiofe (Eefa)
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], but here are some more names you might like.

[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and…

[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m]

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] (the Ley ending too much with [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u])
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_u]Brennan[/name_u] (I know, ends in an N)
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_u]Conner[/name_u]

I love Sonorah [name_f]LeAnn[/name_f]!! I have loved the name Sanoah for some time now. It’s native American, and I like [name_f]Snow[/name_f] as a cute nn. I like Sonorah over the suggestion of [name_f]Sonora[/name_f]. It seems more complete as a name with the H. Would you nn her [name_f]Norah[/name_f]? If so that is adorable, and if not still is an adorable name.

Interesting that you think Kyndria doesn’t fit, but suggest [name_f]Kendra[/name_f]. We actually started with [name_f]Kendra[/name_f], but liked the more unique version of [name_f]Kyndra[/name_f], and I added the i to make it Kyndria so that, verbally, it was clearly different. Thank you for your ideas! [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] was one I had just come across the other day (even though it ends with an n.

I’m going to run some of these by DH & see what he says. Thanks for your ideas! Keep 'em coming!

[name_m]Zayne[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] flows well and I think this works well with your sibset.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
Zeth
[name_u]Seth[/name_u] O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m]
[name_u]Kyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Cael[/name_m] ([name_u]Kay[/name_u]-il)
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Keith[/name_m]
[name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m]
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]
[name_m]Sean[/name_m]
[name_u]Niall[/name_u]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]

[name_f]Do[/name_f] any of you have an opinion about [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] (Oh-ZIY-us) fitting in? DH actually likes it! We absolutely want to avoid the nickname [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m], though. [In fact, I like the first name [name_m]Osborn[/name_m], but all I can think of is [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] [name_m]Osborn[/name_m] (gag)!] I think I would go with [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] as the MN, rather than O’[name_m]Brian[/name_m]. So…

[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]?

[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], & [name_m]Ozias[/name_m]?

[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is lovely. I kind of find [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] is a little too uncommon & traditional in comparison to [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but I guess it could work. [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] might be a little difficult to avoid, though, unless you come up with an alternative nickname. I think Zy/Zai would be pretty cute and would fit great with your sibset —*[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and Zy sounds great!

[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Davis[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Baxter[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Percival[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Percy[/name_u])
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Fergus[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Morris[/name_m]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m]

[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] is not really my style- but [name_u]Zia[/name_u] (zigh-ah) is a cool nn for it.
