Can't agree on a name

Hubby and I are having trouble finding a name we love because we have different naming styles. We both have kids from previous marriages and need to find a name for the one we’re expecting that will match both styles. I’m a bookworm and love fiction inspired names. He likes common names with unusual spellings.

Mine: [name_f]Saphira[/name_f] (Brightscales) - brownie points for anyone that can name the series without Google

His: Natilee, Nathaniell, Trynity, [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] & [name_f]Illyssa[/name_f].

Names I love but he turned down: Roran (Stronghammer), [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], ([name_m]King[/name_m]) Orik, Uther (Pendragon), [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] ([name_u]Finch[/name_u]), [name_m]Rogan[/name_m], [name_u]Keagan[/name_u]

His suggestions that I turned down: [name_m]Symon[/name_m], Eckhart, Syrrell

All help is welcome.

I think we’re going to settle on [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]. First one we’ve agreed on. He wants to spell it Qorbun, but I told him no Q, only C or K. [name_m]Just[/name_m] about any vowel will work between the b and n, so that’s where he can get creative.

Now to play with middle names. At least there is only going to be one of them.

Can I suggest that you not change the spelling. For example Qorbun would be very confusing and the ending would be pronounced BUN, not BIN. So if he wants to spell it Korbun or Corbun, it reads CORE BUN. [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] is a handsome name, spelled this way. Plus this would be your son’s name, not your husbands. Your son might not want a name that was creatively spelled that causes people confusion. But I do know this is your child and you are free, for the most part, to do what you want.

I love [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]. I suggest spellings [name_u]Corbin[/name_u], [name_u]Corban[/name_u], [name_u]Corben[/name_u], [name_u]Korbin[/name_u], or even [name_f]Korban[/name_f]. If he wants to get more “creative” maybe he should leave [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]/[name_u]Corban[/name_u] then play around with the middle name spelling.

I’m ok with it being pronounced CORE BUN. It’s close enough. I’m not gonna fight him on the spelling too much as long as is doesn’t start with a Q or have random silent letters. (His youngest daughter’s middle name is Hlillian. The H is silent).

[name_u]Corbin[/name_u] is a nice name.
I personally like the spelling with [name_u]Corben[/name_u] so you have the option of [name_m]Ben[/name_m]

Congrats on finding one you agree on!
