[name_u]Alex[/name_u] is okay, it just doesn’t excite me. I adore the spunk of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] makes me picture a boy/man that loves adventure, arts, and wandering the countryside or forests. He’s carefree and happy.
I agree that [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is the more exciting name. [name_u]Alex[/name_u], while likable enough, is sort of an average [name_m]Joe[/name_m] kind of name, while [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] sounds more like it could be the name of someone extraordinary.
I couldn’t really choose, I love both of them, but I voted [name_u]Alex[/name_u] to balance it out because I know [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] will win here. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is very much more ‘Nameberry’ but I personally don’t have a thing against popular names at all, so that’s not a strike against [name_u]Alex[/name_u] as far as I’m concerned. Naming your child a less common name definitely won’t make him more ‘extraordinary’ or shape his personality/interests in any way - he’ll probably still be a pretty average kid, statistically speaking.
I think you should decide based on other context - which sounds better with the last name? Which does your partner (if you have one) like better? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name you definitely want to use, maybe an honour name - if so which name sounds better with that middle name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other kids whose names you might want to consider?
If you don’t have a middle name set, maybe you could use both - [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are both pretty great names.
I prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] over [name_u]Alex[/name_u]
