We’re down to two: [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I’m a bigger fan or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and my husband is a bigger fan of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is my great grandmothers name so I think that’s what’s swaying me but it doesn’t make it imperative to use that name.
Our surname is 2 syllables and begins with S and her middle name will be [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]. Please give us some advice to help choose. Oh, and we live in Australia, if that makes a difference.
I think both names are cute and zippy, but my vote goes to [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I like the imagery of the red gemstone associated with the name. I also love the nickname Ru/[name_u]Rue[/name_u]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] also feels like it ages better to me, although I’ve met grown women with both names. It’s always nice to have a family connection like a great grandmother in a name to tie generations together.
In terms of flow, I also think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] might be easier to say with a last name starting with S. “[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] S” feels to me like it could become a tongue twister. (Also, this is neither here nor there, but I have met so many dogs recently named [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].)
I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I’m actually surprised by my choice, as I love Z names! (I’d probably prefer [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] spelling.)
Both [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] are great though. Could you perhaps wait until she’s here and see what fits her best?
I like both! My 11 year old is a [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] was on my list for our current LO but he’s a boy, so no go. lol.
As far as which goes better with [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - I’m gonna go against the PP’s - I personally think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] sounds sooo cute and also easy to grow/mature with as well. And similar to [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] sounds fabulous. (I think maybe I just like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] more with a one-syllable middle name I guess?)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] seems more meaningful to you and it is a bold and happy-making choice but I would personally choose [name_m]Zo[/name_m]ë because I think it ages better and it’s less cutesy. But they’re both cool names! You really can’t go wrong which is why it’s hard.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] gets my vote for sure! I like the flow best, and I think that it will age better. I also have a soft spot for family names, so I think that the connection to your great grandmother is also impacting my vote. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is nice too, but I absolutely adore [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].
Both good names but I prefer [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. And unless he gives birth to this baby I think all else being equal you get the final say. See what he says after watching you give birth! And is the baby having his surname? If so I think that gives you a bit more say in the other name!
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I agree with the previous poster who said it will age well, and I think it’s just gorgeous. You can’t lose either way, though. Best of everything with your delivery!
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] gets my vote! It has lovely connotations (deep reds and gemstones), and I just think it complements [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] better; although both your options are great.
