[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I am trying to decide between three names:
[name_m]Everley[/name_m]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
Kestrel
I love them all, but I’m also having some doubts as to how well [name_m]Everley[/name_m] will age, as I know most people think it is a very “trendy” name. Which name would you pick, and could you picture the name [name_m]Everley[/name_m] on a 35 year old, or a doctor, lawyer, etc?
Three very different names!
I definitely prefer [name_u]Everly[/name_u] spelling. I can see it on a professional, I don’t think it’s a “weird” name at all. I like it.
I’ve never been drawn to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], mostly its popularity puts me off, depends if that matters to you. I like the nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].
Kestrel I like that it’s a nature name. Its avoids being popular and trendy. In general I’m not a fan of “K” names however.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name in mind? That might help you decide.
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] would be my top pick
I agree with gabriellenz, I prefer the spelling [name_u]Everly[/name_u] but I don’t think it’s unprofessional and I think I could imagine a doctor in the future with that name. Another variation I’ve been fond of is [name_f]Evalee[/name_f] (pronounced like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] but with an ‘uh’ sound instead of the ‘er’ syllable) which may prove to be somewhat less trendy? I think, out of your options, some variation of [name_u]Everly[/name_u] would be my choice.
My clear favourite of those is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Such a beautiful classic!
You could look up actress from the 1930s and 40s, [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_m]Gregg[/name_m] (who was born [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]). Clearly the name ages well. I like your spelling best, as it’s a name from a surname and this is how I’ve seen the surname spelt (and the way the actress spelt it). Though I note the most common spelling now is [name_u]Everly[/name_u], so go with that if you want to make it simpler.
I would choose [name_m]Everley[/name_m]! Its a very sweet and I think it will age well. Also it has some cute nn options. I dont like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] though I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. I find [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] somewhat boring.
My favourite would be [name_m]Everley[/name_m] if it was spelled, [name_u]Everly[/name_u]!
- [name_u]Everly[/name_u]
- [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
- [name_m]Everley[/name_m] + Kestrel
I guess I’m in the minority, but my favorite is Kestrel. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a nice classic, but so popular that it’s starting to feel a little boring. [name_m]Everley[/name_m] is fine, but I don’t think it would age very well. Kestrel is interesting, on-trend but not trendy, easy to say and spell.
I’m also in the minority here, I agree with quirkflower- Kestrel is… interesting. If I heard this name on someone it would make me do a double take. I’d remember this person better compared to the endless sea of Charlottes that I have met.
I hate [name_m]Everley[/name_m]. I hate the sound of it. I think it’s one of those trendy names that’s like “wow of course you named your kid [name_m]Everley[/name_m], no surprise there- probably have another kid named Naveah too”
But of course this is just my own opinion, please take it with a grain of salt. You choose what YOU like.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is the best, and will age well.
[name_m]Everley[/name_m] is too trendy.
Kestral is unattractive to me. Reminds me of menstrual.
