current thoughts- updated to reflect what hasn’t been vetoed since what we decided not to use might not be the best reference haha.
Kaleb
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Eliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
Felix
Thayer
First name Must start with:
F, P, R, T or maybe K
It would be nice if it could End with maybe ay/ah ?
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of the name having a strong meaning- something like Blessing or Wisdom or a nature/word name. Good combos and why also accepted.
I think of this list Kaleb, Felix, Thayer are all that’s being considered as a first name.
any suggestions are welcome though and I like nature names
I’m not sure these will fit all of your rules/preferences but here’s a few ideas:
[name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] - for the redwood trees; since, they’re so large, I think they symbolize strength and being firmly grounded and their age is representative of wisdom
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u] - definitions of this word often describe it as a place of “shelter” or “refuge” for ships, a safe place
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u] - this one seems like it might fit your style and it has a nice meaning as well
[name_u]River[/name_u] - I know you’ve probably thought of this one, but I love that [name_m]Rivers[/name_m] can symbolize many different things and that [name_u]River[/name_u] is a nature name while also being mainstream enough to not be considered too out-there
[name_u]Raven[/name_u] - in Game of Thrones, the three-eyed raven is a character of wisdom and knowledge
Thank you for your suggestions
[name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] is actually one of my faves but it also got vetoed so long ago I had nearly forgotten, so you’re right on. We know a river and a sterling and I do like harbor & [name_u]Raven[/name_u] but I don’t think they’re quite the one. Great ideas though!
Instead of [name_u]HArbor[/name_u] how about [name_u]HAven[/name_u]?
(Edit: Check page 2 - sorry didn’t mean for this to be so short. Computer crashed and somehow sent anyway.)
I like [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] [name_m]Wells[/name_m].
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] works really well in the middle for a lot of names, so that would be an easy way to get the wisdom meaning you like.

[name_u]Bayou[/name_u]
[name_m]Clay[/name_m]
[name_u]Cato[/name_u]: meaning wise
[name_m]Farley[/name_m]
[name_f]Fjord[/name_f]
[name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m]/[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]
[name_m]Moray[/name_m]
Oleksiy
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]
Thistle
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]
[name_m]Tobiah[/name_m]
Torgny
[name_u]Finlay[/name_u]/[name_u]Finley[/name_u] fits the “starting with an F anding with an -ay” thing really well
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] - I KNOW it is really popular, which I strongly dislike, but it does mean wisdom in Greek
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - the Greek godess of wisdom
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m] - kind of silly but it reminds me of the [name_m]Harvard[/name_m] University
[name_f]Ismene[/name_f]- means ‘knowledgeable’
[name_m]Albert[/name_m]- After Einstein
[name_m]Kaleb[/name_m] - [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] is more popular so it would get misspelled a lot
[name_f]Wisdom[/name_f] / [name_u]Sage[/name_u] / Wise? - My favorite is [name_u]Sage[/name_u], only because Wise sounds too out there as a first name and [name_f]Wisdom[/name_f] seems like too much for a little girl unless you can think of a good nickname
[name_u]Eliot[/name_u] - I’d spell it [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], but I really like this name
[name_m]Wells[/name_m] - Sounds like a last name or nickname to me. What about [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]? It shares the wes/wis sound with [name_f]Wisdom[/name_f]
[name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m] - I am Greek and it sounds like some weird disease even to me! I would have no idea how to pronounce it it, i’d feel bad for his teachers
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] - I like this one, it’s pretty. Have you considered [name_f]Amity[/name_f]? It’s a lot like [name_f]Verity[/name_f] but with the more familiar [name_f]Ami[/name_f]- sound
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] - I reaaally like [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] and [name_f]Dominica[/name_f], I find them really cute and elegant names with lovely nicknames
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m] - I love the nickname [name_m]Ned[/name_m], but thats the only thing about it I like
[name_m]Valor[/name_m] - Sounds like a cartoon villain, even [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] would be better imo
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] (vetoed) - Not bad, it combines the bell- sound with the common amy but it sounds a little like a cow’s name to me
Thackaray - sounds like a silly swear word
Truet - [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? Like “true” or “true-ette”? It’s not bad
[name_m]Tru[/name_m] - feels incomplete
I absolutely love [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_m]Valor[/name_m] off your list. They are both wonderful, amazing names! But I do not think they would make a good combo (too wordy maybe?). So maybe one or the other… And what do you think of-
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m]- The nameberry definition of [name_m]Rainer[/name_m] is “wise army”. I’m not sure if that would be a consideration for you or not, seeing as the army part may not be the most fitting. But you could maybe think of it as this baby being surrounded by a fierce, loving army of family and friends.
[name_m]Solon[/name_m]- “the wise one”. Does it sound too close to sullen? I quite like the sound and meaning. It reminds me of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], which is another lovely, strong but peaceful, name.
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]- “bow warrior/strong man”. I love this name. Strong meaning, strong sound. And it seems like it would fit well with your ideas so far.
[name_m]Thorin[/name_m]- “brave, daring one”. This one starts with the right letter. I love the meaning, and it also seems to go quite well with the names you’ve listed.
Faraday- Quite unusual. It means “wood man”, so it feels a bit naturey. Starts and ends with the right sounds.
[name_u]Ray[/name_u]- “wise protector”. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] meaning, it rhymes with day. Starts with an R. Also gives a nature feel, like a sun ray or moon ray.
All the best to you.
Thanks for your suggestions. Updated to be more reflective of what exactly we are thinking
I love love love [name_m]Wells[/name_m] as a middle name. I found it in a list of prominent suffragettes ([name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_m]Wells[/name_m] [name_m]Cannon[/name_m]) and it’s been on my list ever since!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about
[name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_u]Kai[/name_u] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m]
[name_m]Trey[/name_m]
Tovia
[name_m]Koda[/name_m]
Some of the below suggestions feel a little old-fashioned and stiff but I suggested them because nn’s feel like they’d be a good match and the meaning feels like it could be on point. (+ you like [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] so maybe)
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Forest[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] (we know a [name_m]Frank[/name_m] but I think something like [name_m]Link[/name_m] as a nn would work too)
[name_u]Pax[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] (it’s more popularly female but really could go either was as an occupation and surname)
[name_m]Prosper[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Thornton[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] or [name_m]Thor[/name_m])
[name_m]Truman[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Tru[/name_m])
[name_m]Kelvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Kiefer[/name_m]
[name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] [name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_m]Raynor[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Reynard[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] (fox association)
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Thayer[/name_m] [name_u]Eliot[/name_u]
If you loosen your rules…
[name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (wise old friend)
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] (blessed)
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
OH thank you [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] had been on our list and I had forgotten them… They should go back on there
@dinosaursroar Yes I wrote most of that reply before I saw the update But I thought I’d post it anyway, see if anything stuck. I absolutely love nature names too.
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] has been suggested, but what about [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]? It’s my favourite boys name.
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]/[name_f]Raina[/name_f]
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]- very tied to [name_f]Peaches[/name_f] Geldof’s son maybe. But I have to admit I really like it!
[name_m]Koa[/name_m]
[name_u]Terah[/name_u]/[name_f]Terra[/name_f]- [name_u]Terah[/name_u] I believe is an old Biblical male name. [name_f]Terra[/name_f] mean “earth” and is more used as a girls name, but I think it would work just fine in the middle for a boy.
Kenway- meaning “brave in war”
[name_m]Ridge[/name_m]/Ridgeway
[name_m]Fielding[/name_m]
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
[name_u]Falcon[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
I think that alot (all?) of these might be too far out for you. But I had fun finding names that fit your criteria anyway Maybe as middle names? I really love the name [name_m]Fox[/name_m] for you too! [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is my favourite combo from your “these are forsure on the list”. And as I mentioned before, I adore [name_u]Sage[/name_u]!
