I’m getting so frustrated this time around. I’m almost getting depressed about it. Not feeling any pressure from anybody, really, except maybe myself…but NOTHING is standing out to me! I think I need to take a break. We are due with our second boy in [name]October[/name]…so I have a little time.
Our last name is [name]Bradley[/name]. Family names we’d like to honor, most likely as middle names are: [name]Edward[/name], [name]Miller[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Allen[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Ryan[/name]. My husband and I are both teachers and have many associations with names…which makes this all that much harder!
Names we sort of narrowed it down to so far are [name]Eli[/name] [name]Miller[/name] ( I also like [name]Eli[/name] [name]Ryan[/name], but husband is not a fan), [name]Kellen[/name] [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Booker[/name] [name]Allen[/name]. I’m not IN [name]LOVE[/name] with any of them! [name]Eli[/name] [name]Miller[/name] doesn’t flow with our last name to me. [name]Kellen[/name] just doesn’t sound right with big brother [name]Hudson[/name] and my one hang up with [name]Booker[/name] was confirmed when I asked my 2 1/2 year old to say some names and he said “boo (stopped abruptly) ewwwww”…thinking I had asked him to say booger.
I don’t ming alliteration, tend to favor two-syllable names as well as surnames.
Other names that have been on our list:
[name]Twain[/name], [name]Brooks[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Turner[/name]
I know! It’s a rather short list…but this is tough!
Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
Does [name]Elias[/name] work a bit better than [name]Eli[/name], maybe? You could always call him [name]Eli[/name] as a nn if [name]Elias[/name] were chosen.
Thanks for the feedback. [name]Eli[/name] has sort of been my favorite…I think [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Hudson[/name] go well, but it just seemed choppy to me with [name]Miller[/name]…[name]Bradley[/name]. I don’t know. Gotta try it out a bit I guess.
Can you guys think of any other names that might fit our “style”…if we have one…?
I think [name]Eli[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] sounds great. I’m not really hearing the issue with [name]Eli[/name] [name]Miller[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] when I say it out loud. What if you switched out the middle name? [name]Eli[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] sounds the best to me. I did notice that [name]Christopher[/name] is your only middle name option that isn’t two syllables; maybe you just need a name to break up the 2-2-2 syllable count.
Since you liked [name]Kellen[/name], do you like [name]Stellan[/name], [name]Callen[/name] (nod to [name]Allen[/name]), or [name]Callum[/name]? Any of those would sound great with [name]Edward[/name].
I think there’s nothing wrong with [name]Eli[/name] [name]Miller[/name] [name]Bradley[/name]. [name]Hudson[/name] & [name]Eli[/name] are great together! What about [name]Sayer[/name]? It’s a different twist on [name]Sawyer[/name], and means carpenter.
I like [name]Eli[/name], but not a fan of [name]Miller[/name]. Plus I think [name]Miller[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] is the name of a board games company.
Agree that the “miller bradley” combo is a bit too much (it’s [name]Milton[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] for the game company, but close). [name]Love[/name] [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Elias[/name]. Have you thought about [name]Preston[/name] [name]Eli[/name] [name]Bradley[/name]?
I have a son named [name]Eli[/name], so I am somewhat biased towards that name, but I love it. And I like it with your last name, too. The only problem is there are LOTS of [name]Eli[/name]'s now…so many! I really like a previous poster’s suggestion of [name]Twain[/name] - so cool, literary, and the vibe is definitely [name]Americana[/name] like your other son’s name, but entirely different. And best yet, I’ve never met one! I really like [name]Twain[/name] [name]Eliot[/name] [name]Bradley[/name], with the nn [name]Eli[/name] in there. [name]Twain[/name] [name]Ellison[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] or [name]Twain[/name] [name]Edward[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] are very handsome, as well. Other names I’ve liked that I think are [name]Americana[/name] are [name]Boone[/name], [name]Whistler[/name], [name]Huxley[/name], and [name]Hawthorne[/name]. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
Thanks so much! Loving all the feedback and suggestions. [name]Twain[/name] has been on our list since the beginning and is my husband’s fav…I like it…but am just not sure yet. Still love [name]Eli[/name], even though I know it’s on the more popular side…
Your comments have sparked some good discussions and I am feeling better about at least looking! Keep the input coming and thanks to all who have posted!
