Thoughts on [name_f]Esther[/name_f]? I love the name, its look, sound, meaning. I don’t want to grow to regret choosing it because of its current lack of popularity/old-lady association.
(Middle name [name_u]June[/name_u])
Why should anyone regret choosing a name they truly love? [name_f]Esther[/name_f] has a lot going for her including historical depth and vintage charm. Many “old-fashioned” names are being dusted off so they are ready to shine again! Be brave.
A sorority sister just had a baby named [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. I would use it. I have never been fond of the name but I love the biblical story and now when I think of the name I think of my friend’s cute daughter.
I second what [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] said! Choose what you love. Plus, you’ll never regret using a name with real history and meaning.
I love it! So pretty
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend just named her baby (born in [name_f]April[/name_f]) this. Cute!
You girls rock! Thanks for the support choosing a name can be so difficult! XOXO!
“E” names are pretty hot right now - [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is a beautiful & classic twist on the trend. You can’t go wrong.
I like it. It’s one of my friend’s names. She’s very confident and cool.
If you love it, use it! If the child doesn’t love it so much, she can change it later.
While it is not my fave, lots of people are choosing old fashioned names these days. [name_f]Essie[/name_f] and [name_f]Este[/name_f] are lovely though. Personally, I would chose [name_f]Este[/name_f] over [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. The meaning is lovely.
I actually like [name_f]Hester[/name_f] a lot and that name is usually frowned upon.
A few years ago I met a young woman named [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and it really suited her. This was when nobody was using old lady names. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] how tough it must have been for her. She was likely born in the 80s. Other people are likely choosing [name_f]Esther[/name_f] for their babies now. If you love it, use it. I love so many names that it is so difficult to decide on one. Sounds like you found the one. <3
P.S. I love June!
What’s wrong with it? “Old” is in fashion now. Besides, I have always firmly believed that if you have really good reasons for loving a name that [name_m]AREN[/name_m]'T “I just picked it randomly from a name book,” your child will respect the meaning behind the name and be proud of it.
I would be okay with it if not for the association with the movie Orphan with [name_f]Esther[/name_f] as the child killer.
She’s not one of the heavy clunkers which significantly reduces, in my opinion, the likelihood of regretting the choice in years to come due to her light and cheerful sound.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is a beautiful combo, and with the nickname possibilities of [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] and EJ (or just as she is in full), it’s sure to work well on a modern baby, child, teen and adult.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] is one of my favorite biblical names, and I would love to meet a little girl named [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. So pretty, her story is amazing and the meaning “star” is gorgeous.
I really like [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. Maybe if you are afraid to use it you could use a trendier middle name?? I would totally use it! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combos are [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], & [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Finley[/name_u].
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is beautiful btw!
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] is the most beautiful name in the world. But don’t use it. I did (on a gorgeous now 8 year old). PS Apparently it is one of the most popular names in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] because of the Jewish population.
Well, where do you live? In the US, it’s growing in popularity, so I think it’s been well dusted off. I think right now it’s the highest it’s been on the charts in a long time, no? Not sure about other countries. So you can stop worrying about it being deemed too old fashioned. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it was, if you love it, I’d still recommend using it.
It’s not a name that I personally love, but I do think it’s a pretty name. Now [name_u]June[/name_u], I love! [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be very cute.
